assuming we are in our base D and On O we are 2 WR, 1 TE, and 1HB.

First team O is pretty much set at Oline, QB, RB, and Coop at the WR spot.

First team D on the obvious is Mosley, Deprriest Hubbard, Belue, haha, Stinson, Pagan. Ivory.

Someone with a better working knowledge of the names best take over from her.

Basically pieced together from practice reports from sites, visitors of scrimmages, and A-Day:

QB - McCarron / Sims
RB - Yeldon / Drake
WR - Cooper / White
WR - Bell / Black
TE - Vogler / Faciane
HB - Jones / Howard
LT - Kouandjio / Greene
LG - Kouandjio / Williams(It's not over here IMO)
C - Kelly / Lindsay
RG - Steen / Luatua
RT - Shepherd / Brown

DE - Stinson / Fanning
NG - Ivory / Lake
DT - Pagan / Tomlinson
SAM - Hubbard / Lee
MIKE - DePriest / Patrick
WILL - Mosley / Ragland
JACK - Devall / Dickson
CB - Belue / Sylve
CB - Smith / Jones
S - Clinton-Dix / Collins
S - Sunseri / Perry

K - Foster
P - Mandell
KR - Cyrus Jones and Landon Collins
PR - Hart or Chris Jones
LS - MK Taylor

WRs and ILBs are hard to piece down depth wise as they practice at multiple spots. This also excludes Kevin Norwood, Jalston Fowler, and John Fulton. None of the 3 were able to contribute in a heavy capacity.

He had two good scrimmages though, that's what people forget. He sucked it up at A-Day, but how often is he gonna have to throw against LC and Nick Perry if he had to take over for AJ?

Base O, Two Deep

QB - AJ McCarron/Blake Sims
RB - TJ Yeldon/Kenyan Drake (I don't think Drake will hold on to this spot though)
WR - Amari Cooper/DeAndrew White
WR - Kenny Bell/Kevin Norwood
TE - Brian Vogler/Malcolm Faciane
HB - Harrison Jones/OJ Howard (I think OJ is gonna get the job though by the time the season starts)
LT - Cyrus Kounadjio/Brandon Greene
LG - Arie Kouandjio/Kellen Williams
C - Ryan Kelly/Chad Lindsay
RG - Anthony Steen/Isaac Luatua (I think we'll see a better player take the second RG role soon enough)
RT - Austin Shepherd/Leon Brown (Brown probably has more talent, but Shepherd's experience will likely keep him the job. Brown should RS this season, play someone else behind Austin)

Chris Black/Christion Jones at Slot.
Jalston Fowler/Derrick Henry at Fullback.

WDE - Jeoffrey Pagan/Dalvin Tomlinson
NG - Brandon Ivory/Darren Lake (obviously all of the top six will basically play a shite ton, but I wouldn't be surprised if Lake ends up with more snaps than Ivory)
SDE - Ed Stinson/LaMichael Fanning
SAM Backer - Adrian Hubbard/Jon Allen (So good he's the backup already at this point in my eyes )
WILL Backer - Trey DePriest/Tana Patrick (Reuben would probably take the garbage time snaps, Tana would be the guy in if someone got hurt.)
MIKE Backer - CJ Mosley/Reggie Ragland (Reggie gonna be a beast)
JACK Backer - Denzel Devall and Xzavier Dickson/Xzavier Dickson and Denzel Devall (Two headed monster at Jack)
CB - Deion Belue/Geno Smith
CB - John Fulton/Cyrus Jones
S - Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix/Landon Collins
S - Vinnie Sunseri/Nick Perry

Geno at Star, Vinnie comes down to Money and LC comes in to play the other Safety spot.

TE/HB is thin and one of the few positions that won't get deeper when the freshmen arrive. I know Fowler will help with HB but we need 1 more in-line TE

Would have been nice to see Ming stick around, played TE in high school. Wasn't really doing much else, couldn't find a fit in any of the positions in the front 7 after playing them all.

ETA: Only blocking type they've offered so far this year is Koda Martin, and his dad/HC said he gonna get fat in college.

We are OK at "TE." not deep, not thin.

You have to account for the interchangeable traits of the TE, HB, and FB in this offense. With Vogler, Faciane, Jones, Howard, Fowler, and Freitag out there, I think things will work out just fine.

If we lose Vogler or Faciane to injury the 2 TE blocking set may suffer though.

After thinking about this, I wonder if any of the OL may be molded into a blocking TE role. Perhaps Gulledge. Or even Wilson Love over from the DL.

Since the 2011 season we've lost BMW, Smelley, Underwood, Lewis, and Kelly Johnson while adding Freitag and OJ. Not sure if it's a change in philosophy at the position with Nuss or a result of recruiting misses. At any rate, the position is lean on numbers, experience and talent (IMO) compared to other positions

I think McNeil could have been an inline guy for us, who could also catch the ball.

It is a position that's touted year after year on the offense, but has yet to deliver schematically outside of blocking. Can't really show them Nick Walker, Colin Peek, or BMW and expect them to be impressed. 1st big get there was Vogler, and it's taken a while for him to be ready to start. H-Back hasn't had that much more talent until the arrival of OJ Howard.

The guys that come to Bama see the bigger picture and accept the duties they're given. They are very close to aligning the highest rated prospects at the position they've pulled in, so maybe that will expand a bit...

Sims will probably listed as the #2 QB. I think it will be someone else (Alec Morris?) if AJ goes down for an extended amount of time.

What is going on with Xzavier Dickson? Is it a case of Devall being a beast and having to get more PT, or is Dickson not progressing and gradually being replaced?

Devall just jumped him, Dickson isn't/wasn't playing bad. It'll probably be a two headed monster at Jack, Devall is a better pass rusher. Dickson's been taking some time at End, which would allow him to be a Rabbit Rusher while Hubbard and Devall are on the edge. He's hurt right now though, will probably be back before Mid-October.

Black will be mostly used in the slot, right?

Supposedly the 2nd most uncoverable receiver in practice, so that's a very solid likelihood.

spot on but I think Dickson holds down the "Jack" spot (If healthy)and Fulton will be the other starter at CB next to Beleu. Geno will be the nickle CB

A post spring depth chart was asked for, a lot of stuff can certainly change after fall practice. Only thing that was really my opinion is the the LG battle isn't over. The rest is what has been reported in practice reports as the depth lineups.

Now personally, the move to DE for Dickson was predicated on Devall. Dickson only played there a few days before he moved back, and then ran with the 2nd team at JACK until he was hurt in the 2nd scrimmage.

On Smith/Fulton, my belief is based on the STAR traditionally being apart of the base defense, not someone subbed in. Castille, Arenas, and Menzie were all base starters that shifted to STAR in nickel rather than be subbed in. '12 was the 1st year there wasn't an ideal fit, as their was a severe shortage of depth.

Should be interesting to see how it shakes out...
