Assael wrote the ESPN The Magazine article. Here are some of the Highlights (paraphrased):

Skarbinsky: "Dakota Mosley told you that half of the 2010 team was using spice. Did you confirm this with any other players from that team?"

Assael: "Yes. Antonio Goodwin."

Assael: "Here's a kid [Mosley] who had a bright future in college football and maybe even the NFL."

There are other great moments in from this interview but these were the highlights. I'll post a link to the podcast if/when it becomes available.

LINK Scroll down a bit and you'll see the "Featured Podcast" section.

How is this guy not embarrassed by those answers? Talk about a lack of dedication to truthful reporting

I almost spit out my coffee when I heard these responses. The stories told by Roberts and Assael hinge entirely on the statements of people who are either facing or serving a prison sentence.

And to think that Mosley had even a remote chance at playing in the NFL makes me think he's never actually watched football before.

And their defenses are based around spice as the cause of their crimes. The author sounds like Pierce Morgan when he has gun people on his show

What a BS interview. He clearly singled Auburn out, but he just wanted kids to stay off spice... will take the slings and arrows... He basically admitted he reported a lot of made up stuff. I think also, as Scarbo said, the story changed every time it was published and the original story was proven wrong. He did more backtracking when compared to the original story.

As someone else mentioned, he confirmed half the team was on spice with a guy in prison and a guy facing 10 years that are using spice as their defense.

Also mentioned that you could still buy spice in stores, etc.

ETA: Thought Scarbo did a decent job.

Is anyone else sick and tired of the spice shite? We need to stop talking about it. We all know it was a BS article and there should be nothing more to it. I have zero idea on why it keeps popping up.

I can't listen to this on my phone. Did Scarb follow up with any hard hitting questions that would cause any other person to ask? I mean he didn't just let the he asked "Antonio Goodwin" answer go without follow up right?

How do you go from not even being in the 2 deep to possible NFL?

Unfortunately, he did. I couldn't believe it.

Hmmm maybe because it is recent (two nights ago) and involves the program that we are all here posting about anyways.

I don't think discussion on this topic really matters. If anything, AU fans calling it bullshite is a better way of fighting it than just being silent and letting it run its course.

We know it.. the general public does not.

i don't buy the consipracy theory at all that espn is out to get us (i'm not an lsu fan afterall) but i do wish they'd say 'we have a program that is in the spotlight, they're a lightning rod for internet and television viewers and they do have players willing to say that many other players were smoking spice, instead of trying to dress it up as a PSA as to the dangers of spice.

I mean if you ask other schools and their players say 'no i'm not going to talk to you' then i get why it has to be all about auburn, but that guy trying to say 'we're tryign fuel conversation to save other kids lives' is absurd.

I am not of the conspiracy type. However, shoddy reporting is shoddy. No doubt these players approached ESPN and talked, but why? It wasn't to help create change in the college football world. It was to enhance their defense that spice played a part in their robbery. Please show us mercy court because we were caught up in an out of control spice epidemic at Auburn. A place where the coaches didn't even try to control and in fact covered it up.

It would at least cause pause on the reporter enough to solidify their claims with actual data and facts. Freedom information act should have allowed them to get the same info Auburn used to dispute the story. Unless there are some restrictions I am not familiar with. He could have sought other confirmation from other players and if they chose to decline answer, make not of it.

Conspiracy or no conspiracy it is bad investigative reporting. And also changing the intent and content of the story due to Auburn's ability to successfuly dispute it is wrong and dishonest at best. I don't blame ESPN pursuing such a story that comes to them, but what followed is dispicable.

It's been going on for weeks. There was just new and recent stuff 2 nights ago.

At this point the public knows it was a BS article. Anyone who believes it wants to believe that Auburn cheats and will use any means to fulfill that. There is no changing these people's minds.

You're right, it doesn't. I believe there's about 25+ threads on the rant if you want to talk about it more.

I don't think you'll find any disagreement there, except perhaps from the writers, but even one of them might admit they phoned it in.
