Cris Carter on Duron:

"He didn't commit a crime, he has no tattoos, he has no kids, and he's a pleasant kid. His thing is he hates school, though," Cris Carter told USA Today's Mike Garafolo. "And I'm his dad. He's really bright; he's got an IQ over 130. He just hates school. We gave him the pretest on the Wonderlic. He got a 28.

"He. Just. Hates. (Bleeping). School."

Well, I hope he likes car washes......

eta: Seriously, he should've focused his athletic skill on baseball or basketball, if he wasn't interested in academics. You don't need no book lurnin' in those sports.

Sounds like another problem Duron has is that his father is an enabler.

Dang it, I knew "school" was gonna hold that kid back from greatness. Why should "school" be allowed to keep a kid down like this.

Hell, I hate work. Doesn't mean I'm gonna stop going though.

I've often wondered if after his first year his father said "You're gonna get hurt. Let's game the system by using good trainers and coaches to get you ready for the NFL without so much risk."

Do. You. Know. Who. Else. fricking. Hates. School? Every. fricking. Kid. In. The. History. Of. History. But. Most. Kids. Can't. Coast.. By. With. Their. Dad"s. Last. Name.

frick Chris Carter and his kid. The way the system is set up so that the NFL uses the NCAA as its free farm system is problematic at best. Too bad. That's how it is. Duron can't expect to not play the game and still win. Chris should have realized that and beat some sense into him.

You gotta think that if the kid hates school and the work it takes to succeed in the classroom, then he must REALLY hate the grueling workouts, weight training, and studying the playbook. If he isn't disciplined enough to train his brain, then he'd have a difficult time training his body. Football is a mental sport just as much as it is a physical sport.

Sounds like his problem is he's been coddled and spoiled his whole life. I hate school too, but I'm there every day and I actually have to pay for mine.
