saw this phrase on a bumper sticker a week ago... is this true? I've only visited the state capital a few times, but I lived in Birmingham a while and there were plenty of Aubies everywhere. Is this a popular opinion?

This contradicts the term "gump" as we are often referred to.

Auburn people live there, Alabama people come into town in January and leave in May (I'm talking about the Legislative Session in case you didn't get me)

I lived in Montgomery for 5 years. I wouldn't really say that Montgomery is an Auburn town. I think it is a pretty close split between Auburn and Alabama. Alabama is probably about 65/35 or 60/40 in the state. Montgomery is closer to 50/50, so it is more of an Auburn town than most.

Birmingham is clearly pro-Alabama.

Montgomery has AU leanings, but most of the politicians there did graduate from UA.

I would say the state is more like 70/30 for the good guys. Your giving them too much credit.

It seems that if most in-state kids who go to Bama aren't from Birmingham, they are from Huntsville, so I'm going to say Huntsville is pro-Alabama.

Prayers needed!

I've lived here for 18 yrs. Take my word for it, in the more affluent circles of Montgomery society it's orange/blue.

It's laughable really. My friends and buisness acquaintances and anyone in social settings know that I'm a Bama grad.

I don't feel the need to wear crimson every weekend on the golf course, or at the lake. I don't feel the need to sport my "colors" at any of my kids sporting events throughout the week.

It never frickin fails - go to a local golf course and you will see orange/blue golf bags with "Aubie" head covers. You go to the lake and the AU flags are flying high. You go to the neighborhood Publix on any given day and they are wearing hats/shirts, etc. And they STILL sport the BCSNC 2010 shite all over town.

Relatively speaking they are good people, just strange about broadcasting their AU affiliation in their daily apparel.
