Not surprising. The ACC isn't going to die. Nothing will happen for another 5+ years

That's closet communism. I have to lol at the taterheads and criminoles though ... they are both getting the karma kickbacks they deserve for the choices they made long ago. (Clemson in the early 70s, FSU in the early 90s).

No, closet Communism is taking money that Alabama and LSU earn and giving it to teams (like Kentucky and Vanderbilt, historically) who never make bowls
They're just trying to protect their conference, as they should. It would be a shame for the ACC to dissolve

This is not communism.

Agreed. And it will survive as long as the norther front doesn't disappear. UNC, Duke, UVA, Virginia Tech, Clemson, Georgia Tech, FSU and Miami are a strong core for a conference. Once the 8 team playoff gets here, the ACC Champ will get an auto invite.

Not really.

Uhhhh yea. Those two are the two most powerful programs in the ACC that the SEC doesn't want. This helps them retain UNC, VT, Duke, and or NCST.

In the end, I can't see UNC leaving Duke or NC State.
I can't see UVA leaving Va Tech either.
That alone will keep the ACC together.
If Texas continues to struggle I could see them scrapping the Longhorn network and giving in to SEC landscape.

Basically teams can't leave the ACC until ~2025/2026.

Wonder how the Irish are liking this

How is Texas able to bail out of the Big 12 an easier than the ACC teams? The Big 12 has a grant of rights agreement also.

No, it's closet communism ... either FSU and Clemson tow the party line or, ... well, there is no "or" if the ACC institutes this. It's very much like the post WWII soviet satellite states agreement where the USSR was formed.
And, with regard to the Kentucky and Vandy bowl thing ... listen, the conference does not make money on bowls. The conference makes money on TV markets and both contribute substantially to our TV market, not to mention Kentucky, along with Florida to a lesser degree, has carried us in basketball.

I'm sure there will be a loophole or a deal made if a team really wants to get out of it.

they probably are.
they might be forced to properly join a conference if another round of conference consolidation took place.

great move by the ACC IMO
The ACC survives
It seems like the Big 10 sharks were beginning to hover around Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, and....Florida State???
The B1G is stymied for awhile...

You clearly don't understand the mind of the Longhorn...or its President.
As long as Bill Powers is the president of that school, he will NEVER allow his school to join a conference that he deems "academically inferior". This is a Cal Berkely graduate who has been trying to bring "west coast enlightenment" to "inbred hick redneck" Texas...only to epically fail miserably at every turn as he has discovered that his constituents don't give a flying frick about his desire to turn them into The University of California at Austin.

No loophole here. If a team leaves they have to pay the media revenue for the next fifteen years (minus the years they were in the ACC).
ACC won't be dissolving any time soon.
