Auburn Athletics has evidently conducted an internal review and responds to each allegation made in the article.

Not gonna read, can you provide Cliff Notes? AU innocent of all allegations, and, in fact, went above and beyond their duties in aggressively investigating any signs of impropriety?

Unfortunately, I think you're right. People only care when the allegations are made. However, when a fact-based rebuttal is put forth, no one seems to give a shite anymore.

There's actually a "Cliff's Notes" version at the bottom of the link.

Hell of a lot more than that. It is a point by point rebuttle of allegations, complete with records to back up each rebuttle to the point there is zero doubt McNeil and his family lied repeadly and the author of the story to liberties to the point of making stuff up as well. Here is an example (the first one on the summary list):

quote:

ALLEGATION
The reporter wrote that Melodie Campbell claims the family didn't get a call about the arrest of her son, Mike McNeil, until 3:30 p.m. on March 11, 2011.
FACT
Phone records show that Athletics Department employees talked with a member of the family three times before 3:30 p.m. and once afterward on March 11, 2011. Calls were made at 9:01 a.m. (3 minutes), 11:34 a.m. (9 minutes), 1:07 p.m. (7 minutes), and 4:45 p.m. (10 minutes).

quote:

ALLEGATION
Campbell was also quoted as saying, "To this day, no one from the University has talked to the family."
FACT
Phone records show that Athletics Department employees talked with a member of the family on March 12, 2011. Calls were made at 11:41 a.m. (1 minute) and 11:44 a.m. (5 minutes). Athletics employees also talked to a member of the family on March 13, 2011. Calls were made at 12:07 p.m. (1 minute) and 8:54 p.m. (18 minutes). In addition, Auburn's team chaplain had continued conversations with a family member, including an 80-minute phone conversation on April 1, 2011.

To be fair, you weren't going to believe any of it anyway, so why waste your time, right?

pretty much sums it up.

Auburn: "We have phone records."

Media: "may we see them."

Auburn: "finders keepers"

Umm, sounds like the reporter never asked for them. Or never attempted any due diligence.

Hilarious people thought she was credible after her history of making shite up.

The phone records are available from the freedom on information act.

Folks will believe what they want to believe, but Auburn provided proof about the allegations and showed the faults in the article.

It was a good read. Actually, they did a very good job of giving FACTS instead of people just rambling about what "might have happened." The best was the one about Michael Dyer having a 2.8 GPA and not even CLOSE to being academically ineligble. Also, the phone records refuting the McNeill family was priceless. Lastly, I love how in the article it talks of McNeills innocence, yet he plead guilty 5 days later and will spend 3 years in Prison. HAHA.

Sucks that the media won't publicize this, but when the allegations came out, it was front of Rivals, ESPN, CBS, NY Times, etc. Unreal. Move on from Auburn. This sh|t is getting Ollllllllld.

Nope. It is good for AU.

It shows what a pile of shite the allegations and story are. I like how some members of the media, even some at ESPN, questioned the story soon after it came out.

The more bullshite that is put out there and shown to be bullshite, the more it makes others look bad and less likely to believe storys about AU in the future.

Right. Like how the Cam stuff not panning out kept folks from running other stories about AU....
