Who benefits more in the early season matchup for A&M/Bama?

Aggies have lots of news on defense (again). Bama replacing a bunch of first rounders on the o line.
It's early in the year, and that means the defenses out there get a slight advantage which is negated as the season moves on.

don't see any net advantage on either side of the ball early on. both sides are learning plays, sets, and are fresher. its a wash

A&M definitely needs the extra game for our young defense. Bama will be planning for us all summer so I doubt one extra week makes much difference.
Barring unforseen injuries in Bamas first game, I dont really see how a bye that early helps them.

The question is who benefits more.
If Bama wins it will be because Saban drew up a great gameplan in August, not because of the bye.

Wash.
Last year A&M had the advantage of playing Bama the week after the LSU game (though this probably should have been offset by the fact that it was a home game for Bama).
This year the time they play each other appears to be a wash.

Have not seen any mention of those morons yet, but I'm with ya as I expect everybody else here would be.
For the game - I have no idea. That's what makes it fun. A&M will have a suspect and untested defense. Alabama has AJ and Yeldon and Cooper, who on paper should torch A&M's defense. On the flipside, they'll need to, because A&M's offense is going to be the most prolific ever. It could be a shootout or it could be a beatdown by either team - no prediction on which. The only certainty is it will be must-see-TV.

Without a doubt, Bama is the beneficiary of this early season matchup. Seriously, does Bama really need a bye after only one game?
The schedule makers in Birmingham don't make mistakes that adversely affects the Crimson Tide.

Early games favor the best coaching staff. Look at how teams have performed when a staff has had several weeks to prepare for the other team. My money is on Saban and the Tide and it won't be close.

A&M has two warm up games to get Manziel and the offense rolling...
Alabama has a bit of a test before they head to Kyle Field...
I just see Manziel and the Aggies fresh and ready for big ol Bama...

The Hokies went 7-6 last year with 3 of their wins coming in overtime.

Dude, y'all start out with Rice and SHS. We play in domes, you stay at home.

We have the advantage because we play VT in the opener. Saban will have them very focused all summer.

Bama.
Saban's culture is inculcated in that program. His players are always ready. Sumlin's still putting his fingerprints on Aggie football. The day-to-day grind probably runs smoother at Bama, which favors them in an early season game played before a given program's regiment has been in stride for weeks.
TAMU's D will have several new faces, and the two deep will feature several guys who've yet to graduate high school. That obviously works against TAMU in an early season game.
Finally, there's some obscurity surrounding TAMU's WR position. It's entirely likely that a starter isn't even on campus yet. And we only return 1 proven playmaker. Will JFF find chemistry with the new faces before 9/14? Will another playmaker emerge before Saban and his foaming mouth touch down in CS? Don't know.
