Alright this guy is in year 2 of his tenure and hitting has been terrible. and he's almost as bad of a 3rd base coach as mossberg.
I know he recruits like crazy and the players like him but why cant anyone produce? its not like hes working with terrible kids, all the sophomores are supposed to be the number 3 recuiting class in the nation. His guys put up great numbers at UCF:
"In 2010, Godwin was named the C-USA Assistant Coach of the Year by SEBaseball.com, as he helped the Knights hit a school record and C-USA record .343 clip. The squad also posted 78 home runs and a .538 slugging percentage, both school records."
why cant he do it here? is it him or is it bianco?
**note: I really dont know too much about baseball because i didnt play growing up, but I've been a huge fan of Ole Miss baseball since going to the texas series.

I doubt he forgot how to coach a player to approach the plate correctly.
Players just don't hit well.

Hit great last season after hitting terribly the season before. Hitting is contagious and sometimes slumps are too.
Bousfield is on fire though...

SEC pitching has a lot to do with it. Plus the fact some of Godwins top signees got drafted and signed pro.

Our team just isn't very good.

It doesn't help when we have around 13 total non pitchers on the active roster and 2 of those guys are strictly defensive players and should never see the inside of a batters box.

We are 0-3 vs Memphis and Southern Miss this season. We scored 1 run last night. We scored 0 runs the night before.
In our last 8 losses, we've scored more than 1 run once. And it was an extra inning game.

We are just playing piss poor baseball right now. Lots of errors and only a couple of decent hitters spread out terribley in the line up. The top of our line up is terrible this year with the exception of Stuart and Boz as of recently. The rest of our team is batting low .200 and .100. We need to recruit hitters who arent going to sign with the MLB. We have to stop recruiting top talent and recruit that run off.

I'm of the opinion that he's not being allowed to coach his own system AND he has shite for talent.
MB is soaking up all the schollies for arms, leaving Godwin to try to piece together a lineup that can hit but A) won't get drafted and B) hasn't been offered by any other top college programs.
Not to mention, I think Napoleon won't give Godwin complete and total control of the hitting coaching and calls during games. I think Godwin is sending everyone home every chance he gets because it's the only place on the field that MB can't stop him from making decisions. It's not like MB can run out into the 3b coaching box and hold the runner.
If MB stays after this season, I have a feeling Godwin jumps ship. If he goes, we'll know I'm right and that he got fed up working for a micromanaging a-hole who thinks he's a baseball God.

The next 3 weekends are going to be huge if this team is going to get hot.

Absolutely man. It's time to say frick the bullshite and do something. We have 3 straight series we could win before state comes to Oxford and we finish the year at Alex Box. The next 3 series (@ UT, UK, @AU) will ultimately decide our season.
