Remember Willie Lyles and How he was bringing Auburn Down?

The NCAA began looking into possible violations following reports about payments Oregon made to recruiting services, including a $25,000 payment to Willie Lyles and Houston-based Complete Scouting Services in 2010. Lyles had a connection with an Oregon recruit.
Oregon and the NCAA failed to come to an agreement on the matter and the case is expected to go before the infractions committee this year.
The University of Oregon proposed a self-imposed two-year probation and the loss of a scholarship for three years because of possible recruiting violations involving the Ducks' football program.
---------------
I remember the Duck fans following the Bama lead and I take some satisfaction in them going on probation.
---------------
Let me save a couple of you guys some time... NtY, take this crap somewhere else, yada, yada, yada...

I don't remember Auburn being anything other than a minor mention in the Will Lyles story. The way I remember it LSU and Oregon were the 2 most prominently mentioned. We were briefly mentioned due to Seastrunk but even that seemed to show us in a good light because we had stopped recruiting him.
With that said frick Oregon.

I think the only connection was lache and lache was recruited to Auburn, but Lyles wasnt present. However I think UTk got in trouble for Lyles/Lache and Lyles never went there either. I may be wrong

Dang folks, here is a link.. plus remember Lache was an Auburn recruit also...
From BSPN:LINK
The NCAA, according to sources, is also examining Lyles' relationship with Sean Nelson of Thibodeaux, La., whose own relationship with top football prospects has been scrutinized by the NCAA. Last month, NCAA investigators interviewed former Thibodeaux High School coach Dennis Lorio about Auburn's recruitment of receiver Trovon Reed and offensive lineman Greg Robinson this year. Reed signed with Auburn last year; Robinson signed with the Tigers in February.
Robinson and his mother also were questioned by NCAA officials.

I had forgotten about him being associated with Nelson but my point still stands that the Will Lyles story was mainly about Oregon and LSU with Auburn thrown in for web hits. LSU didn't recruit Reed until the end when they had missed their top targets and Robinson wanted to play LT and didn't feel like he would get the chance being in the same class as La'el"85% and rising" Collins.

I agree it was about web hits and folks using Auburn to get them. Still the NCAA investigated and that was widely reported. We knew we were OK, but this was seen again as Auburn going down. Along with Cam, the HBO 4. It is part of the Auburn is dirty story.

This may have been before some of your guys time.
Thayer Evans of FoxSports.com first mentioned the Nelson-Auburn-Thibodaux connection back on January 8th.
The above is not proof at all that Auburn landed Reed or Robinson illegally. But the fact that the NCAA is snooping around asking questions should worry Tiger fans more than any off-the-wall claims or audio snippets coming from an attention-seeking radio host.
ETA: LINK added... Oregon Investigation could lead back to SEC... Seriously, there was a lot of talk (Fbaum, etc.) how this was bad for Auburn...

More from the story...
Lyles, a Houston resident, has been tied to other high school players from Louisiana and Texas, who eventually signed with schools such as Auburn, Baylor, LSU, Oklahoma State, Southern California and Texas A&M.
Is that proof that Lyles, Auburn or LSU did anything wrong? Nope. But as we always say, it’s best to stay off the NCAA radar altogether. It’s never a good thing to be tied in any way, shape or form to someone the NCAA is investigating. Period.
But here’s the real concern for Auburn:

We're good. Lorio is a fricking idiot and tried everything he could to get both to LSU. If anything LSU would be in trouble with his involvement.

Don't be a dolt. That article was done over two years ago that you linked. They already investigated down in Thib. Not worried about a damn thing.
