under the current rules, I often have to deal with some uncertainty when it comes to the bid for any particular player's services. I look forward to a true commodities market for quarterbacks, running backs, linebackers, etc.

This will bring the SEC into the 21rst century and help us spend our money wisely. Right now, it's sort of hit and miss, sealed bids environment, but hopefully we can get to a free market model.

War Eagle!

So Johnelle won't ever be able to work again. He can't coach and he doesn't understand finance.

I agree. If we could pay our players open, fair amounts they would stop beating the shite out of our students for Xbox games and maxed out credit cards.

I'd like to personally thank Auburn for all their current research towards developing a working pay-4-play standard.

Actually Texas A&M has the most money, but there are enough players to go around for us to still get a few

I do not want any standards or rates or salary caps- just an open auction market. It would make it easier to figure out how much I will be assessed which under the current model is not easy to figure out. Plus it could still be tax deductible if we continue to use FCA and churches.

Already is an open market at the Barn! They've been paying them for years down there!

My payments have NOT been MARKET BASED. That is my point. Without a bid/ask spread, expiration, limit or market order process it is difficult for me to make sure that we are not under bidding or over bidding. I just think we need to establish a College football player (CFP) commodities market like the CME where I can agree to purchase options on sugar, coffee, cotton etc.

Spot prices on a recruit could be posted and the bids would be visible. Then we could track ROI etc.

This will never ever ever ever ever ever ever happen. Like it or not, the NCAA isnt going anywhere. Once you get past all the bitching and moaning from fans, players, coaches, etc. and realize that there is literally nobody who can usurp them, you'll be able to put down your picket sign and sleep better at night.

Aside from a supreme court ruling on the unconstituionality of the NCAA governing body, nothing is changing. Ever.

the first thing that would happen would be dividing the FBS into the pro schools and the amateur schools.

You all would be royally fricked if it was an open market for buying players. Too bad that will never happen.
