The moment my parents' divorce began.

It was 3 and a half years ago. I was 26. People say it doesn't really affect "grown" kids as much as it does younger kids. That's bullshite. It just affects them differently. I didn't realize how much it affected me until just recently.

I lost all my good sense for a few months (had an affair, walked out on a perfect wife, quit a job doing what I love) and I think it's because the concept of family didn't really exist for me anymore. Somehow, I came to my senses and I'm back with my very-forgiving wife with a little girl on the way. Here on the other side of it, I can see it's only by the grace of God that I'm still here.

I can also see that the concept of family does exist. Even after the one you grew up with is broken.

What about you?

Saying my final goodbye to my stepdaughter when my ex and I split. Wasn't my choice, broke my heart, still broken.

Thanks a lot for starting this thread, a-hole

My mom was a drug addict for 15 years. So all of those times she went missing.

And when my brother was killed.

My dad cheated on my mom with Lady A. It didn't work out. He got to know Lady A's kids and said it was harder to tell them goodbye than it was to tell her goodbye.

Fun fact: I cheated on my wife with Lady A's daughter. That's what's up

That's a shame for you, but I'm glad it worked out.

For me, it was when I got home from work one night and found a note taped on the front door of the house from my wife. When I opened the door, the house was empty, so was our bank account, and I found out she had been having an affair with an old high school friend.

I know it sounds fricked up but we found common ground and were able to open up and deal with some of the pain from the whole experience. Then we fricked and screwed all the good parts of it up.

That was 21 years ago. She ended up marrying the guy a few months later. I moved to another city and have been married to a wonderful lady. We will celebrate our 15th anniversary this summer.
