sorry if germans...

Auburn, according to Rivals, was participating in clinical trials to help develop a test for the drug. Auburn started the tests three days after they became available, on Jan. 24. The twelve positives mentioned by ESPN were during those trials. Testing at that stage was still imperfect. Auburn could not tell if it was catching repeat offenders with weekly tests or recurring positives from the same usage (hence the guy who tested positive seven times).

quote:

Auburn began using the fully operational test when it became available in August 2011, which explains the lag between the positive tests and enforcement. ESPN’s report claims Auburn did not notify parents about the positive tests. The Rivals’ site has two parents affirming they were notified by coaches about positive tests. Auburn’s official statement asserts parents mentioned in the ESPN piece were contacted about positive tests by both phone and written correspondence.

at this point there is so much he said she said. I don't think nothing will come of anything except the negative press AU must endure. It will soon be over and fall FB will start.

Bama took a lot of negative press with the 3 who were involved in beating up students and the 4th who used a stolen card. That was about 2 months ago and things have died down.

It just seems like every time I turn around AU is in the news for something negative. It gets to a point where people just assume that it must be true, given the history of accusations made towards your school. As for ESPN, if they don't have accurate information then they shouldn't run a story. It must be tiring being an AU fan.

If it isn't news about Auburn getting the death penalty, no one cares.

There are two schools of thought.
1.) Ain't nothin' got nothing to do with nothin'.

2.) Sumpem's got sumpem to do with eerythang.

This whole discussion is pointless, Mike McNeil could've walked up to Indianapolis with tapes, sworn affidavits and a gift basket and the NCAA wouldn't do anything right now.

Until you realize the NCAA is on life support due to the Miami and Penn State cases and really didn't care that much about anything other than maintaining its tax exempt status and maximizing its cash flow to begin with you will continue to be confused by its actions.

NCAA Gameplan:
1) push ads talking about how they're "always there for the student athlete"
2) work behind the scenes to get more games played taking kids out of the classroom, maximize tv money and their share of revenue
3) lobby like hell on capital hill so they don't have to pay any taxes
4) make an example of a school every year or two after incontrovertible evidence is brought forward by someone else that cheating occurred
5) profit!!!!

The NCAA is like a politician, if their mouth is moving, they're probably lying.

and I don't disagree, but the NCAA is made up of its member schools. The president of the NCAA answers to a board. I would be interested to see who is on this board.

I stopped reading at "We would dispute the merit of schools testing “students” for recreational drug use at all. "

Would anyone care at this point if it even was about them getting the death penalty?
