Can A&M become the premier University in Texas?

A&M came to the best conference in America because they couldn't compete with UT in the Big 12. Now that their big brother isn't in their conference to scare them any more things are looking up for them. Beating bama, 11-2 record, and what not.
Will they now be able to over take UT and become the premier university in Texas?

Doubtful. Texas fires browns hires anyone they want but saban and then dominates a very weak conference.
Aggies will eventually struggle in the SEC. Everyone does at some point. Plus Texas is a better education than some ag school with a football program.

Older
Has Flagship Status
Has a larger research spend
Is about equal academically
Is stronger politically
Is a better football team right now
Is killing Texas in recruiting right now
Is in a better conference
Has a Top 20 history
So who gives a damn? If you want to say Texas is the premier University just because they have a stronger football HISTORY then fine, nothing will change your mind. I certainly wouldn't change places with them for the future though.

They can become the premier D1 football program in Texas since they already have....as for premier University in all things, nope, but I don't think that's going to bother them too much....they accomplished what they wanted to accomplish....

I think if A&M really becomes a real threat to UT's status within the state, UT starts exploring the SEC, that way A&M is returned to little bro status.
