Not only that (getting FBS before GA Southern), but they didn't even have a program until 2010.
GA St as around 30k enrolled, is in a very athletic and explosive part of Atlanta, and plays their home games in the GA Dome.
It wouldn't surprise me to see them surpass Ga Tech in football in the next 20-30 years. Not saying it will happen, but it wouldn't shock me.

only Alabama can beat Alabama. they don't lose, they just beat themselves (9-6)

The thing about schedules is that you never know if your opponents are going to turn out good or bad. What looked like a pretty tough schedule last year for Alabama turned into a very easy schedule. Michigan and Arkansas were both expected to be NC contenders before the season (well... pre-Petrino crash). Auburn, Tennessee, and Missouri were expected to be solid as well. Out of those, only one ended up with a winning season.

Just for good measure, here is Tennessee's 1998 opponents records. Forgive me, I know a lot of you were probably in 1st grade the last time Tennessee won a BCS title...

Syracuse 8-4
Florida 10-2
Houston 3-8
Auburn 3-8
Georgia 9-3
Alabama 7-5
S. Carolina 1-10
UAB 4-7
Arkansas 9-3
Kentucky 7-5
Vanderbilt 2-9

SEC Title
Miss State 8-5

BCS Title
Florida State 11-2

Almost half of Tennessee's opponents had losing records. Tennessee played a 3 loss Miss State team for the SEC title. Not to mention, Tennessee needed Kansas State and UCLA to lose in the final week to get into the BCS title game. 1998 Tennessee def ranks toward the top of weakest BCS champions.

Looks like Bama really brought down the SOS that year. If y'all would've been better, we wouldn't look like such a weak nat'l champion.

Thanks, dickheads.

Wait a sec:

Kentucky - 1
Arkansas - 2
Missouri - T3
Florida - 7
South Carolina - T9
LSU - 12
Tennessee - 21
Mississippi State/Georgia - T31
Auburn - 38
Texas A&M - 43
Ole Miss - 55
Alabama - 79
Vanderbilt - 82

I thought A&M's schedule was the weakest of all time. How can they be ranked higher than other schools?

Not according to Phil Steele.

1. Missouri + Vanderbilt is stronger than Tennessee + Kentucky

2. Rice + SMU + UTEP > Virginia Tech + Colorado State + Georgia Southern

Doesn't really matter, Bama and A&M will settle shite in week 3. I think Bama, A&M, and Ole Miss will be the top 3 teams in the west. Shhh, don't tell you know who fans that I said that.

2011 LSU beat more ranked teams than any team in cfb history. I would rather have our tough schedule and play in big games and enjoy win or lose. Sure we've lost 2 in a row to bama, but they've lost their biggest games at home each of the last 2 yrs. I dont want shite handed to us.
