TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) – Four former Alabama football players arrested after two on-campus robberies are set to have their cases presented to a Tuscaloosa County grand jury.

Safety Eddie Williams, linebacker Dennis Pettway and running back/H-back Brent Calloway all waived their rights to a preliminary hearing scheduled for Tuesday before Tuscaloosa District Court Judge James C. Guin. Linebacker Tyler Hayes’ case was automatically sent to a grand jury on Monday.

The players were dismissed from school following a judicial review.

Williams, Pettway and Hayes are charged with two counts of second-degree robbery after two students were attacked in separate robberies on Feb. 11. Williams and Calloway are both charged with using a stolen debit card.

Williams and Calloway – both 20 – and 18-year-old Pettway are seeking youthful offender status.

Hayes, 18, and Williams confessed to robbing a student who was punched in the head and face and kicked in the ribs and back. Williams said Pettway and Hayes waited in a nearby vehicle about an hour later while he knocked out and robbed another student. Williams and Hayes both admitted to their involvement, according to the documents.

Williams and Calloway both admitted to using a stolen campus debit card to buy snacks from vending machines inside a dormitory, the documents said.

I'd like all of them behind bars except for Calloway who just used an act card

I hope Calloway can find success somewhere else. I know he's been in trouble before and his recruitment was a mess, but I don't think he's a bad person or would have been part of the bad stuff the other 3 did

They definitely were playing the knockout game. Pretty much a hate crime

Very. I didn't open the article, and I won't, but the only "card" that works in the vending machines on campus is an action card. So did they only steal act cards, or did they take "real" debit cards

Whether or not they took debit and credit cards as well, it's been my understanding this whole time that Calloway, at least, used the victim's act card in the vending machine.

Calloway got a raw deal though he had no idea it was that kids act card

A couple teammates came to Saban trying to keep BC on the team saying they use each others all the time and exchange and borrow etc and Brent just assumed it was that sort of a situation. Cops however saw it as stolen property and charged them all 4

Brent had absolutely nothing to do with the beating or robbing, the idea to do it or any of that

Calloway can still salvage his career by attending a JUCO next year before transferring over to another Division 1-A school. Being kicked off the team before his sophomore year is far from a death sentence.

It has the student's picture on it. He knew it wasn't his or the guy who gave it to him.

It was "just" the act card, but a student took a "real" beating for it.

Calloway didnt get a raw deal at all. He knew it was a stolen act card. You are naive if you think otherwise.

I'm not downplaying it. It was fricked up what they did. I'm just Surprised someone in their right mind would beat someone senseless for an act card

How would they even know if Calloway had anything to do with it...hell he could've been the mastermind behind it all.

Calloway did pick the wrong friends. What a waste of talent.

There is no real difference between an act card and a "real" debit card as they both are guaranteed with money deposited into the account. One difference is where they are accepted. Another difference is the act card has the students picture on it so you can't pretend that you thought it was one of your friends card. I see no benefit from trying to minimize the theft of an act card.
