A lot of the coaches have been weak recruiters.

True fact: Most of the good black basketball players are from the Northeast and California.

There is still enough talent regionally for some SEC teams to be good.

Lack of ball going through the rim is one of the first problems

Florida and Kentucky, and Mizzou are simply the only teams that can recruit. Thats pretty much why IMO.

FWIW though, the coaches in the past that could recruit are the reason this current crop of coaches in certain schools are here. They either failed to replenish their roster and went after quick fixes, or simply lost control of their teams.

It goes in cycles. Next year, the SEC should be very strong.

Next year I could see at least 6 SEC teams in the Big Dance with Kentucky, Florida, LSU, Arkansas, Missouri, and Tennessee. I don't know what the others have coming in, so there could be more.

The thing is, all these teams have to schedule stronger in the OOC, so when they start beating up on each other, it won't matter so much.

I think some of it is bad luck. Tenn and Bama had injuries at bad times, leading to really bad perception of the conference. Basically the SEC needs to schedule tougher OOC games and actually win them.

Tennessee scheduled pretty damn strong this year. OK St, UMass, @GTown, Memphis, Wichita, Xavier, @Virginia

Next year
@Wichita
@Xavier
vs. Virginia
Michigan State (neutral)
Kansas (neutral)

No purpose in scheduling like that though when a team with 1 top 100 win gets an at large.

They are tied with the ACC for the most NCs in the last 20 years...6 each. The Big East had 4, PAC 12 had 2, and the Big 12 & Big 10 had 1 each.
