I can't think of anything. Objects are replaceable.

Glad I bring the normal out of some boogs!

I just brought up a fact, don't get so sensitive and touchy over a word. It's eraseable.

NOT the same exercise. a live animal is NOT the same.

and to the appropriate corresponding post above... yes, i am guilty for saying "they're just trees.." BUT, i do understand there IS some level of sentimental value to them. same as any landmark on UA's campus.

i get it... but what i'm saying is that auburn fans have thoroughly enjoyed playing martyr role.

i'm tired of placating all of these auburn fans that have allowed their emotions to take over OR are even faking it.

let's alllllllllllll just get the hell over it and be thankful it was a single man's single action. i realize ESPN has to make a story in the off-season and that's fine... whatever. let's just make a movement on this forum to put our big boy pants on and move a step forward!

k, i gotta go get some takeout. y'all enjoy figuring this out.

You're annoying. One of your fans destroyed one of their traditions. You have to diminish them even further? Why? Why do you care if they are emotional about it? Why? I don't get it. Unless of course... you're just an insecure prick. It is none of your business how they deal with it.

If you've been a fan of any sport and you have a rival, AND they acted like these boogs have... for THIS long, get back with me. otherwise, shut up, because all your post represents is a weak attempt to gain favor with people that dislike what I've said... which is honest. Sure, it's an attempt to flame. i admitted to that. everyone likes a good RELEVANT flame! It's the off season and I was bored when this thought hit me... AND just buzzy enough to post it.

You yourself just want to be seen as an individual with an opinion. Grats. You attacked me and my point.

Look, take Texas for example. imagine their fans have moaned and groaned for a year about something like this. BTW, I have said in this thread I would have been mad too. I have said I would have gotten over it MUCH faster. They act like it's some national tragedy or something.

Just answer my question. What object getting destroyed would make you AS sad and upset as Auburn fans have gotten over Toomer's corner? Live animals or human beings excluded from "objects that are destroyed." (and honestly... the way they've acted for this long, even an animal they didn't own or care for)

Me? Oh, I'm not embarrassed at ALL! Unless you are easily confused with pride. This subject is just a pile of crap that most on here have wanted to avoid.

This is just my opinion and I know yall don't GAF but here is my 2 cents. Harvey fukked up and should be punished. If this is first offense (felony?) probation and community service should suffice. He does not represent all BAMA fans. With all that said Barn fans should be very pissed just not to the point of SHEDDING TEARS and I think that was the point of this thread. He was asking other fan bases if there were any inanimate objects that they would shed tears over.

You have no idea if you would have gotten over it faster. None. Only an insecure child talks like they know about something like this. So why do you care?

Coming from a long tradition of tree-killers at A&M I've wondered about the reaction to this one myself.

In '73 the Rice MOB (Marching Owl Band) put on a show at halftime in College Station that was... not well received. In retaliation Aggies travelled to Houston and cut down the "Victory Tree", under which Rice football coaches had given postgame speeches after wins for a long, long time. The Aggies took at least some of the tree (reports are cloudy here) back to A&M and burned it on the bonfire. Personally I don't see much difference between these events. The biggest difference between the two that I can see is nobody knows about the Victory Tree and you'll be hard-pressed to find any information, while the whole damn country (not just Auburn fans) went nuts over Toomer's Corner.

oh, and to my fellow bama fan before this post. that is correct. if i remember your post perfectly enough.

my question is more rhetorical, of course. as no one can come up with a legitimate answer. :)

Why do you care if they cry about it? People cried when the Beatles landed in America. People cry at movies. People cry on their kids first day of school. Why do you care about other people's emotional attachment to something? Why are you that insecure?

already answered that, but i will again... just for good measure.

you see, hours ago.. i was drinking beer. i had a minute, so i plopped down and sat behind the ole computer. i was browsing the tigerdroppings auburn board, and there was a thread about ESPN covering toomer's corner for the last time it gets rolled.

i got to thinking, "Gee willikers. What object on the Unversity of Alabama's campus would make me as sad and depressed and angry and vitriolic as the Auburn fans have gotten over these trees?" As I came up with NO answer, it got me to thinking. "Boy, these Auburn fans have been carrying on and moaning and groaning for a LONG LONG time...."

Then I got on the SECr and decided to make a topic. "What object .... etc"

So here we are... discussing the martyrs of Auburn University.

Believe whatever you want about me, pal. This is all about curiosity.... well, mixed with what feels like a YEAR'S worth of people WISHING ANOTHER HUMAN BEING to "die, or burn in hell, or serve a life sentence in prison."

You silly person with an opinion, you.

Meh, you need to go find something productive to do. Stop worrying about what's on the Auburn board.
