These 3 plus Texas, Virginia and NC are by far the best southern states to live in.

I call bs... "well-being" as a phrase has such a wide spectrum of interpretation.

I would say that folks in the south (i always want to capitalize the S in south), have a MUCH higher level of "well-being." Why? Because the less you "want" the fuller your life has a potential to be in terms of things that matter more.

So, there. The south has the most well-being.

The article loses all credibility when it says that the happiest American is a TALL Asian-American older than 65....Yao Ming isn't 65 yet.

So is it bad to "want" food, shelter, and medicine?

Massachusetts, the state with the highest percentage of residents with health insurance in the country, scored the top rank for access to "basic necessities," the survey noted. This category also looked at whether residents believed they had enough money for food, shelter and medicine, a safe place to exercise and access to clean water. Mississippi ranked lowest here.
