OLB Alaka -- should be deciding in the next few days. He originally had planned to decide this weekend and he was set to choose tu but our offer and JR day turned his head. He's probably going to commit in the next week though. I think we really like him given the offer at this point when we are probably set at the position. However, there is some concern over Hoza Scott's grades as well so we may feel the need to take 3

CB/S Darrion Johnson -- still hasn't been offered but it has officially gotten out he is a grade risk so I'll just say it. He was told if he can get his house in order, an offer may be forthcoming. Not sure if he or we will wait on that though

WR Armanti Foreman -- the current OU commit has some pretty interesting comments about facilities: "I liked both of them really (A&M and tu)," Foreman said. "It's really the same to me. They want me to play the same position and do the same things. Both of them have great academic programs. Texas A&M, the new facilities that they built, they're way better than what Texas has from what I saw. That's one thing I really liked about Texas A&M." We're pretty much expecting him to flip but he has a twin brother that OU may offer and muck up the works with. Probably the best slot in the state this year.

Ath Watts -- his recruitment just took off in the last week or two. Never heard of him before but he's picked up like 6 offers in that time frame including OU, OSU, and Nebraska. Everyone seems to like him at different spots whether it be WR, S, or even CB. Rivals 250 kid so no idea why it's been so slow developing on him. Wonder if he just got test scores back or something

DE Jarret Johnson -- has officially said A&M and tu are even right now. No idea on a commit timeframe.

Hoza Scott may have my favorite highlights I've seen in a long time. I like how he seems to try to take the ball and score every down. Defenders with a nose for the ball almost always turn out.

grades are the issue with Scott really. Otherwise he's a complete and total stud. Hopefully he can get his house in order.

Lot of smoke today that Koda Martin is about to commit. Maybe he will. But Sumlin is very image conscious and he's made sure that every single event we stage has at least one commit. He scheduled many of the official announcements in the fall to hit key dates. It won't surprise me if he asks Koda to make it official at FNL next week.

Also, Cedric Collins has a neck injury apparently. No one is quite sure how severe yet or no one is saying. But we may end up taking another DB just in case.

thanks! I don't know that we have mods. I know they talked about it but I don't think this sub-community is really large enough for it

Foreman officially decommitted from OU today. Will be interesting. The sips seem to think he's a big lean to them after he went to their Spring Game. However the above quote suggests he likes A&M a lot and I think he's coming to FNLs.

Also, everyone is saying he's a package deal with his brother and I'd be shocked if we offer his brother. So obviously if that's true, we won't get him.

From ESPN Insider:
quote:

The x-factor could be Armanti's twin brother D'Onta Foreman. The 2014 running back doesn't have an FBS scholarship offer yet, but Armanti is adamant about getting the chance to play with him at the next level. "The only way I don't see him playing with his brother is if, for whatever reason, D'Onta has to go a different route," Darreck Foreman said. "I don't see that happening."

Sounds like a package deal to me...

Just some notes heading into the weekend spring game

- 2014 WDE Sione Teuhema and 2015 OL Maea Teuhema visited Wed. They've been touring around and been to Austin and Norman already. Both have offers from OU and tu. They apparently loved the visit. We told Sione that we already have 2 DEs committed in this class. We offered to greyshirt him and he would be the same class as his brother.
“It was everything we expected and hoped for it to be,” said guardian Robert Taliaferro. “We knew it was probably going to come down to three schools, with A&M being one of them. Their facilities are in the top two that we’ve seen. Liked the coaches, liked everything. And then we meet with Coach [Kevin] Sumlin and he lays out a plan. The plan included Sione sitting out a year. No other school has brought up the word 'redshirt,' " Taliaferro said. “Me and Sione had talked about the possibility of him redshirting, but what we don’t like is the grayshirt, which leaves him at home for nine months. It would take an incredible amount of family discussion and praying for that kind of a decision to be made,” Taliaferro said. “I believe there is a different decision that would require a whole lot less discussion to be made. But it’s not my decision, all I can do is educate them.”

- 2015 QB Kyler Murray is on campus today. We haven't offered any 2015 QBs yet. Not sure when that will be forthcoming but it wouldn't surprise me if they wait til a bit later as we sort out the position and what our needs are (what happens with JFF, Kohl, '14 class, injuries, etc)

- there are a ton of visitors this weekend. I think we're expecting 3-4 commits. DE Jarrett Johnson is almost certainly going to be one. If what we told Teuhema is true, I guess we should expect at least one more DE commit. Qualen Cunnningham, Deondre Clark and Myles Garrett will all be in attendance (I'd guess Cunningham is #2 but we could see a 3rd in Garrett)

- with Alaka committing to Texas, we are back to the drawing board at WLB. We're pretty well set at SLB (13 Claiborne, TR Hilliard, and 14 Walker, and both the big safeties could spin down - Wiggins and Washington) but WLB could be more of a problem. Wade was the only one in this class and Hoza Scott is a grade risk. I expect we'll take one more but not sure we've identified him yet. Most Texas prep OLBs are SLB types who are smaller and better in space.

- QB Justice Hansen is down to A&M and OU. We both have spring games saturday and supposedly whichever game he chooses to attend is who he will commit to. QB Kyle Allen from AZ will also be visiting Saturday. Will be interesting how we handle that if Hansen does indeed choose us.

- S Jamal Adams will be there Saturday. We cooled on him for some reason but have recently turned around and gone full court press on him. His comments on the visit: “I’m excited about heading down to Texas A&M. They are definitely on the rise. Coach (Kevin) Sumlin is getting them right down there. Johnny Manziel doing a great job of leading the team too. I’ve been to pretty much all of the Big 12 so I want to see something different. I want to see what the SEC is all about.”

Going to try to catalog everyone coming in this weekend. If anyone has updates throw them out but this is what I know as of now. Should get updated a bit throughout the day

2014 visitors
-------------
OL Kealvin Davis
DT DeShawn Wasington
CB Nick Harvey
CB/Ath Armani Watts

QB Kyle Allen
WR Davion Hall
WR Armanti Foreman
WR Mark Andrews
OT/TE Koda Martin
TE Mavin Saunders
DE Myles Garrett
DE Qualen Cunningham
DE Jarrett Johnson
S Jamal Adams

Not going to try to keep up with the 2015 but we have a ton of elite talent from that class coming as well.

there's really not a lot of crossover unless one of us starts getting momentum. Guys like Noil or Willis for us and maybe a Davion Hall or Jamal Adams for the tigers fall in that category

Primary targets - biggest competitor

Myles Garrett - TCU
Zach Whitley - Bama
Davion Hall - Baylor (LSU could get in play here bc I think he'll drop Baylor)
Speedy Noil - LSU (not sure how serious he is about us though)
Braden Smith - ND
Kyle Allen - Arizona? not really sure on him
Gerald Willis - LSU (again, I think our chances aren't great)
Jamal Adams - Texas. I could see LSU getting in the mix here. It's hard to say. Everyone seems to think they lead for him
Joe Mixon - USC
Amanti Foreman - Texas. I dunno though. I don't think any of his top teams are going to take his bro and I think that may give us a chance
Qualen Cunningham - Wash?
Koda Martin - OU

Darrion withdrew from school at Brenham after having been told he wasn't welcomed back to the athletic program (he was suspended last season by coaches but no idea as to what the situation is). Hopefully he gets it together for his own sake but I think that may be the end of any interest we may have had

Shane Huhn, a safety from UTEP, intends to transfer to Texas A&M and will walk on to the team when he enrolls this summer. The 5-foot-11, 200-pound Huhn said location played a role in his decision. His brother, class of 2013 safety Erik Huhn (Cibolo, Texas/Steele), will play for Texas in the fall.

He'll be eligible to compete in games in the 2014 season and will have two years of eligibility remaining. Huhn played in all 12 UTEP games last fall and started the final eight of the season at strong safety. He finished with 49 tackles (sixth on the team), two interceptions, four pass breakups, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and a blocked kick.

Dylan Sumner-Gardner had a Texas offer

That's 5 head to head wins. As for Texas commits:

Otaro Alaka had an A&M offer
Courtney Garnett had an A&M offer
Cameron Hampton had an A&M offer
Jermaine Roberts had an A&M offer

4 head to head losses.

Pretty even.

Depends on what you mean. The only real head-to-head I can think of that is left is Jamal Adams.

Long run I think there'll be a few others and guys like Shorter or Johnson are probably down to the two of us but I think we're slowplaying both of those. But if you just mean offers, virtually every serious target of ours they have offered as well except for the QBs (Allen and Harris).

Btw, we have 10 commits as of now and I think we'll end up on 22 or so. My guess for the last 12

1. QB Harris
2. WR Hall/Noil
3. WR/RB/TE ???
4. OG Smith
5. OT Martin
7. DE Garrett
8. DE Cunningham
9. DE/DT ???
10. LB Mabin
11. LB ???
12. S Adams

At least I believe that is the positions we have lined up.
