ESPN has contacted Auburn University about covering the final Toomer’s Oaks rolling event on April 20th after Auburn’s annual A-Day football game, but Auburn University Communications Director Mike Clardy says he is “not sure yet the extent of their plans.”
quote:

The event will begin at 5 p.m. with opening remarks likely by Auburn University president Jay Gogue. Other possible speakers include Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn and Auburn Mayor Bill Ham. A “spirit rally”—cheerleaders, pep band, and surely Aubie—will take place at 5:20 p.m. followed by the final rolling itself at 5:30 p.m. After that comes a set by local band Kidd Blue.
quote:

The Toomer’s Oaks will be removed one or two weeks after the final rolling and could take several days. Every piece of wood cut down will eventually be turned into souvenirs, the proceeds from which Shaw says will go entirely toward student scholarships.

I might shed a tear or two. It won't really hit me though until I see them gone. The days they are taking down the trees you will not find me anywhere close to Toomers corner. I will intentionally take a longer route just to bypass that intersection

That would be haunting to see it completely void of people mid day, minus the workers.

I already die a little inside everytime I pass them. They look rough.

It certainly won't be the same. I had the misfortune of being in school there when they tore down The Flush and made it a bank. Not nearly the same iconic figures as the Toomer's Oaks, but a similar loss.

We are coming to A-Day and one of the reasons is for the final rolling of the trees. The tradition will continue.

I own a toomer's oak decedent (I won the lottery), I own a Toomer's Brick and YES, I will buy some piece of the toomer's oak tree.

Me too.

I also had an Amsouth account, which I closed after they bulldozed the Flush.

And me. Freshman year, no more Flush.

Wish I could be there at A-day for the last rolling.

I don't think I've gone through the College/Magnolia intersection since this summer. I just can't take it

Good advice. If I can't control myself, I just ask for you guys to get me back before the season starts.

Took my own young'un (who is now a senior at Auburn) to the Toomers oaks so many times.

Pisses me off that I won't be able to take my grandbabies.

GODDAMMIT.
