i never once saw anything showing suites all the way down the lines in the box.

Back when the Box was built, it was mentioned that the metal bleacher on the L&R sides were temporary measures. FWIW, I don't believe the plan was to extend the grandstand all the way down the sidelines in one phase. More like add a section to each, which would be three suites on either side. Just like in Phase 2.

also what is in phase 2 that isnt complete?

IIRC they were reconstructing the batting cages or making improvements to same.

I'll just have to take your word for it but i've heard nothing of this being planned. And we all knew about phase 2's plan to add suites.

Dudy Noble/ Polk Dement Stadium is the Wrigley Field of college baseball stadiums (Sorry Lsu, it just is).. Tearing the grandstand down would make me frowny faced... So much history there... No... I'm not being a smart arse... I'm being 100% serial... Some of the best Architects/Engineering minds in the field are State grads.. Surely there's a better way to improve/add on than just dynamiting it and starting again from scratch... I dont really know obviously... I graduated with a C average in marketing and business mgmt :(

as a fan who just went through the rebuild or teardown of an iconic college baseball stadium i can tell you right now they just need to tear it down and rebuild.

Well if the leveled DNF then y'all would have to get a new outfield. You can't put the stadium in the same place if you're going to completely start over. There isn't enough time in the offseason to have it completed by the next season.

This is essentially what you accomplished in a single offseason at Swayze, is it not?

You talking about when the new one was built in the 90s, or the upgrades we did a few years ago? Neither one is the same situation.

Mississippi State has all of the top 9 on-campus crowds in the history of college baseball. Overall, DNF-PDS has held 9 crowds over 12,000 and 24 crowds over 10,000. Let me know when y'all have the top 9 crowds

Shh.. Don't bring facts to the ignorant.

OM fans think the sec just started playing baseball ten years ago.

I agree. I would think we could renovate the existing structure and then extend the grandstands down the foul lines and build more skyboxes. Leave the outfield as is...I think I would stop supporting MSU athletics if they did away with the left and right field lounge. The way we do it is unique and imo the best tradition in all of college baseball. Really enhances the game experience

Either way swayze wasn't leveled and completely redone. The old grandstand was remodeled and new boxes put on top, and then the grandstands were extended down the baselines. Not a "complete leveling" like engie was talking about, but still a massive undertaking and I would think State could do the same thing.

I can't remember is all of that was done completely in one offseason though.

Exactly.

DNF's initial design is very flawed -- in that it was built "too close to the action". The angle on the grandstands make extending them into the corners a logistical nightmare from a sightlines/angles perspective. Those current bleachers suck because they face center field instead of home plate, leaving you with a crick in your neck by the third inning. This same constraint would virtually be in place with a simple chairback design as well.

You could creatively "make it happen" -- but the money spent on it would be well past the point of feasibility IMO...

This shows what I mean.

This is a more ideal modern design(Carolina Stadium) where every seat basically faces the pitcher's mound.

Or the most ideal. TDAmeritrade.

Agreed.

I never wanted to leave the old Box, but seeing what we have now and looking back, building a new stadium was the only way to go.

Same. I've brought it up before, but LSU baseball is in a unique position. It's the only baseball program in NCAA history to have exceeded 400K attendance.

To put that in perspective, only two college basketball programs have exceeded 400k on a regular basis...Syracuse and Louisville.

I've said it before, and I'll stand by it now, but I believe LSU baseball will be the first program to exceed 500K in attendance.

None of that would have been possible without building a new stadium.
