My "Do you consider Arkansas and Missouri rivals?

You have half the Mo fanbase saying they aren't like the south, and the other half feverishly trying to convince themselves that they are as southern as Arkansas.

The most "southern" parts of Missouri are compared to the least southern parts of Arkansas.

The answer is that they aren't our rival. Not just because we have barely played outside of basketball. Just because it doesn't feel like it would be a rivalry.

If Oklahoma joined the SEC, there would be no question in my mind whether or not we would be rivals.

Not because we have played OU more than we have played Missouri, because we really haven't.

There are a lot more OU fans in Arkansas than Missouri fans. We already dislike OU fans. I can drive all over NWA and see OU stuff all day long. I see random Mizzou stuff now and then, but it doesn't seem more common than LSU or Ole Miss stuff.

On this board, there seem to be several Springfield, MO area Arkansas posters or people with Missouri ties.

Ask your average Arkansas fan about Mizzou, and the answer will be:

1) We've barely played in sports other than basketball.

2) Few of us know or interact with Mizzou fans on a daily basis.

Of the few current Big 12 schools that have rival potential for Arkansas, Mizzou is down the list behind Texas, OU, and Oklahoma State in order of GAF in my opinion. They are also below Texas A&M.

But you don't play OU, and you won't.. so great waste of a post.

Hence, state divided, as it was 150 years ago. And since I'm the leader of the one man group that tries to push the south thing, who has said anything about Missouri being as southern as Arkansas?? Haven't said that at all... said Ozarks and Arkansas are very similar. I'm gonna press pass on this, it's long past old.

:beatdeadhorse: this topic.

First off.....it's "LOWRENTS" not "Lawrence".

Second, it had nothing to do with that piss poor excuse for a fight you say you put up, it's because we don't consider you a worthy rival. Thats the only reason Fayetteville is not in flames.

Whats so hard to understand about that?

I don't necessarily disagree with this statement, but......

I do have to disagree with this part of the statement......being my family is from Tennessee and Virginina parts of Florida and Alabama and eventually NW and centeral Arkansas.

Arkansas could never be a rival. It's my second team, always has been.

I heard that Kikko Haydar's great great grand pappy kicked those Yankees out of our state all by himself. (Those Union soldiers whined about it as well)

Exactly, and on that note:

Little Rock - 1
NWA - 0

We should play more games in War Memorial...

Well, that is a bit too close to that trashy shithole known as Louisiana. How about all games in West Memphis?

Excellent idea! General Cleburne is buried in Helena, so there would be no questioning how 'southern' we were. Close to the casinos as well...

Sounds like a win-win for everyone!! Only thing that would suffer is fan survival rate.

Just stay away from the 'hood in Helena, which BTW is right next to the Confederate cemetery, and you'll be alright.

I consider Arkansas and Missouri rivals to see who is the more sub par SEC school. Arkansas will get worse with Bielema

Worse than JLS? Think about what you're saying right now...
