Gotta tell you I've been going to games since I was a teenager (I'm 34 now). Our baseball fans treat opponents a billion times more friendly than our fooseball fans do.

Not sure why that is, except for a smaller, more dedicated crowd that's always proven respectful of dominant performances out of opponents. There's also less yahoos out there who are "just there for the party".

But Non-LSU brethren, chime in and tell us your stories, good and perhaps even bad, I admit, about your experiences on the road in Baton Rouge for a weekend set at the Box.

I've been to the old Box... Back in 2001 ... We lost the rubber match that day... LSU had won the Fri game by 13 runs... Then the Rebels won the Saturday game by 13.

Goin to new AB for the first time to see the OM series this season... A good friend of mine is a basketball coach in East BR Parish... A couple of us are going down there to stay the weekend... Pretty pumped... Any advice other than arrive early to tailgate for a couple hours? We'll definitely be doing that.

Went to the old one several times. Walked around the new one during football season. I wish we played y'all in BR this year, because I only live like 1:45 away.

You can do that, or you can walk over to Walk-On's and grab a few beers in the bar. Warning: You'll get razzed a bit in there.

The LSU Baseball HOF just opened up inside the Box and will be open a few hours before every game as I understand it. Having seen some pics and a few articles, its outstanding so make some time to walk over and look through there.

Otherwise, you hit the nail on the head. Get there a few hours early and bring your SPF if its sunny and you get bleacher seats.

Looking forward to it

Love making trips to the Box. FIL has season tix so we go when we're in town, although I've never been to a Bama game there. Fans are very nice, and the stadium is amazing. Feels like a nice minor league park.

I'd expect nothing less... Every time I'm in BR or NOLA with OM gear on the meanest, little snot nosed LSU kid for a 10 mile radius singles me out and "Tiger Baits" me til I'm ready to stomp his little arse... Never fails.

I've been to the old and the new Box. 98% of the fans are great and while the new Box is certainly nice, I miss the old one It was more fun and unique to travel to, but if I were an LSU fan I'd want the new one to go to all the time.

There's so much nostalgia and memories wrapped up in the Old Box. Its very sad to see it as a limestone parking lot for Tailgating & student parking nowadays. So I understand that much.

But then again, the new Box is a Taj Mahal. Sitting in the suites or Champions Club is amazing. Sitting in the grandstands is awesome, too. Heck even down the sidelines we've got chairbacks. The amenities and comfort level compared to the Old Box are almost incomparable.

I still think we should do a drive-in movie deal on the weekends in late summer after Beisbol season is over using the replay board in Left Field. Put some old movies or college-set favorites there and have people come and sit in the outfield with blankets or lawnchairs.

That thing is HUGE.

The wife and I went to New Box in 2011 for Ole Miss series. We had a tremendous time. Fans were great, we ate well, and heard some great live music. It was too bad we only took one game from you guys. Mahtook is one of best players I have seen live in person in college ranks. Planned to make the trip every other year but this year we have a wedding to attend.

Dude was a beast. I was sitting in the Champions Club seats for his first career start in an LSU Uniform. He hit two taters and his last AB was pressing for that third one. He missed it, but everyone knew that kid was something special.

Reminded me of Ryan Theriot's 5-for-5 night in his LSU debut.

I went to Alex Box to watch A&M play in their regional in 1991. It rained and rained and rained. I remember them bringing out pumps to the warning track between games. It was a lake out there. I can't believe they got all of those games in.

I went back in 2004 for the Super Regional. We were packed into the grandstand like sardines, and it was so humid. With those old oscillating fans, I thought to myself this is what baseball in Cuba must be like. And then there was the I-beam ...

I had a blast both trips. LSU baseball fans are light years nicer than their football fans. Can't wait to see the new Alex Box in 2014.

Old Box as a player when they still had the LHSAA Simis and Finals there. Best field I ever played on by far.

Old Box for a couple of mid week games when visiting buddies that played for LSU while I was on spring break from Arkansas. Atmosphere was what you would expect for a mid week OOC game.

I haven't made it to the New Box yet, but it's on my bucket list.

I remember that series in 01 Ray, it was Easter Weekend, and I caught the Sat and Sun games. The Sat game is when LSU ran out of arms and Ryan Theriot took the hill.
