I let it go a long time ago. It's only when people start bring it up that I say something.

Which is why I started this thread. Let it go. Stop the stans bashing. Start supporting ray.

My question for darkhorse, is what does any of this do or prove?

What are you trying to accomplish?

He wants to bring Stans back.

Because apparently in his head, it is logically conclusive that if keeps complaining, bitching, and moaning about it, it will happen.

Here's what every state fan should realize:

There is no reason to be upset or happy about this bball season. It is just a bball season that we are waiting for to be over. We knew it would be a down year before the season started. Five players from that below average team weren't on the court last night. Next year we will most likely have a decent team. Until then, there is no reason to bitch. There is no reason to celebrate. MTFU and take a season off. If you can't do that, you are a child. Either way, there is no reason to bring stansbury up. He has always been a terrible teacher and practice leader. Always. Even in good years. He got by like that and it wasn't too shabby for our program. Then he started doing other things bad and it was time for him to go after a decade and a half of not reaching the sweet 16 and fictional west championships. The at large bids were long gone. If you can't realize that, ban yourself from this place. Nobody likes you.

The bad thing is...

That dude is a fairly significant greyhair booster IRL. Runs in the same crew as Dawgbreeze(I think he's coastdoglover on 24/7), which is essentially one step away from the basketball cigar boys. They were Stansbury insiders and had tremendous access to all facets of the program -- and they've made it clear since then that their loyalty was to a coach instead of a team.

They were "involved" with recruiting before -- yet their support has been withdrawn under the new regime, thus basically sabotaging Ray's early efforts on the recruiting trail.

Of course, we've got Al/darkhorse knighting for Stansbury while questioning Ray -- when they have NO CLUE about what's going on behind the scenes.

It's going to be "more difficult" for Ray than it has to be -- in the exact same way that it was "more difficult" for Cohen. Primarily because it seems that our money people lose sight of what's important.

Even when Stansbury was getting fired, I still liked him and hoped that he would help Ray transition into head coaching at MSU.

I guess that never happened..which is a bummer.

I understand being pissed off about being fired, but the guy coached here for I think 22 years(?) and I thought he would be a bigger man than that.

And our administration was nice enough to keep him hired, so he can get in his 25 years and draw retirement from the state of MS.

While it is entirely possible your scenario happens we also could have him and have the same record we have today. How anyone could still pull for Stans after it being so obvious how he ruined this program is beyond me. Cancer surgery takes some time to heel from. Once Ray gets going you will look at Stans like the last 3 year of Sherrill's era

If you were fired or denoted would you want to help and become friends with the guy your boss replaced you with?

I know I wouldn't. And most people in similar situations wouldn't either.

Oh so you are telling me that what a 19 year old kid says about a school he attended a year ago might not actually be accurate? Wow. Weird how hundreds of old farts on the internet can't figure that out.

Over all thought...

I'm not against Ray. He's the coach and wishing/waanting him to fail would be stupid. That does not equal and does not mean that I have to bash Stans and make up crap in order to feel good about our situation. Make sense?

-------------------------------------

I read those quotes when everything happened. Those are not, as suggested by Req, in contrast with what Hood stated.

Stans here would have meant Hood being here, per Hood. There is no other story. There is no other way to twist it to suit how you feel and what you wanted.

Was there anything Ray could have done? Per Ricky Hood, no. What's your pooint? You seem to be having liberties with mine, and I don't want to do that with yours.

======================================

If you are going to bash Stans and place the blame on him for everything that went wrong, then you should be willing to do the same to the current coach. Why not stand on the same ground? Why not hold the same standard? Is it because you don't want to "be wrong" about supporting this hire? You can't expect to bash Stans over a player conduct issue and not have another fan bash Ray for the same issue. You can not bring up players who left under Stans and not have the same done for Ray.

===================================

Lastly, the most over looked issue was the process by our AD. Like it or not, the issue falls on him CURRENTLY. He made the decisions that got us here.
