Maybe we can move Jake Holland to center and Chubb to linebacker.

Weren't you a Barbee fan boy earlier in the season? lol

Yep.

I really thought this was going to be the year that we stepped it up and challenged for a NIT spot.

We had made improvements from year one to year two and I thought that was going to continue,

But the way Barbee handled in-game situations this year has completely turned me off. His sub patterns are bad, his personnel decisions have gotten worse, and he gave up on this team judging from his comments last week.

He was a good hire and it hasn't panned out. I said we needed to make improvements from last year when everyone was dogging him at the beginning.

He hasn't. And now I'm completely off the Barbee bandwagon. I'm here to eat as much crow as you guys want me to, I was completely wrong.

Yep I'm here to do the same. Everyone had a reason to believe or not to believe he would work out before the beginning of the year. Both sides had a legitimate argument and unfortunately the hire just hasn't worked.

I'm the type that wants stays on the side of cautious optimism and had every right to believe we'd make some step forward this year. Sucks but that's what happens sometimes.

I doubt you'll find too many from the barbee can't hack it side being happy about being right. I can only speak for myself but i would have loved to have completely missed the mark about him.

looking at how bad we are it's really hard to say what the next step needs to be.

No need to eat crow, it just took some of us longer to realize Barbee isn't capable of getting the job done.

Next year were going to be in the exact same position. A few decent but streaky guards and NO inside presence.

While i didn't agree with warslam and the rig preseason and early into the season that barbee was worth a shite, i don't think they were that off base in being hopeful he could produce at auburn. I don't think it's fair to look back in hindsight and bust their balls for thinking/hoping he could improve auburn basketball.

Frick that. Its totally fair. All signed pointed to Auburn sucking again.

is the under armor thing still a hinderance to getting to AAU kids? Or does under armor now have camps that decent players go to?

Yes. Auburn switched to Under Armour in 2005 and Price and Johnson are the 1st top 100 players we have signed since. Under Armour is in the 2nd year of having camps but unlike Nike they don't push their AAU programs to send kids to Under Armour schools. Barbee had a big hand in 2014 4* center Trayvon Reed transfering schools and now playing for an Under Armour AAU program. Hopefully it will pay off but if the Harrison twins(both played for an Under Armour AAU team) that just signed with Kentucky are any indication it might not be enough if the big time programs come calling.

I don't completely understand why it matters or how it can have that significant of an impact. Can you explain a little bit more why being under contract with Under Armour hurts our ability to recruit top players?

Apparel Sponsored AAU teams have been said to get the top players on their teams, give them free shite, then convince them to go to a school they outfit, that way, if they become outstanding NBA players, they'll sign with their apparel company in the NBA, and the company will make money.

Under Armour does not have a foothold in that regard in the AAU circuit.
