For someone that has probably never seen him play in person, you seem to think this point is true. When in all actuality it isn't. Applewhite at this time is a poor man's Jamont Gordon to say the least. He is very talented, just raw. He will thrive as a 2/3 hybrid in the motion offense.

Bundy was talking about Fred Thomas being a bust and how bad he was just one month ago. He's not going to give in until he absolutely has to down the road.

I told Bundy that we will have a solid squad next season. He can't accept it because we aren't good this year. He will hate ray until next season. But even then, we won't make the tournament and he will still hate him.

We lost all 5 starters under Stands for 2006. We played all Freshmen and Rhodes-went managed 15-15 playing the easiest OOC in school history- not 1 team from any of the top 8 college basketball conferences. Capped it off by going 5-11 in the SEC

We lost all 5 starters for 2013 under Ray, coming out of a complete dumpster fire and coaching change. We played North Carolina, Marquette, Texas, and Providence in the OOC, plus 3 season ending injuries- 2 to starters.

Thats why we are 7-15 instead of a winning record. Ray is going to do some good things at State

What remaining games we have left do you see us having a chance of winning? All i see is Vandy and Auburn.

My quote earlier had nothing to do with the 5 years comment. It had to do with the dismissals of Kristers and Shaun. I brought up 5 years because this entire thread you have been advocating players to get away with things because there aren't enough players on the team. I simply added that the last 5 years, players got away with shite and look where it got us?

I have not advocated allowing players to get away with anything. Those are your words.

quote:

"He cleaned house way to soon. Had he waited, he could have maybe made the NIT in his first year, and recruited the players he wanted. Then he could have cleaned house for his reasons."

You said this in the beginning of the thread. That would make someone assume that you are saying to not punish them. You are trying to deflect now. I don't think i'm the one being the smart arse. That would be you.

No, that doesn't make a person assume anything. That's on the person making the assumption. That would be you.

I have no need to "deflect" from anything. It's not my issue that you can not grasp the difference in dismissing a player and suspending a player. There are many ways to "punish" a player.

quote:

What point are you trying to make then? Cause this entire thread is based around you saying Ray shouldn't have suspended several players. That would make any logical person conclude that your point was to say that Kristers and Shaun shouldn't have been let go. My response to you would be that both had to go regardless. It was no different than the Tyrann Mathieu debacle. He had his third strike and got cut, Kristers and Shaun had their third strike and got cut.

I never said that. I'm not going to argue with you about it. My suggestion for you stands.

If what I am saying isn't the whole point of this thread, then what is?

Cause I'm about how you now deny advocating to not suspend players.

And two years later we made the NCAA tournament and went 12-4 in the SEC. Led by Jamont Gordon and Charles Rhodes.

If Ray doesn't start playing the game and recruiting players who aren't 3 stars its likely it'll be a long time before we make the NCAA tournament again.

Here we go with this ridiculous shite again.

Last I checked, Al, we started 3 freshman 4*s this year...

We weren't even expected to win any game in SEC this year, let alone a decent chance at 4.

But oh wait, you still want Stans back.

This is the second time you've brought up Rhodes being a baller, which he was.

He averaged 2.9ppg and 1.9rpg his freshman year.

Give these guys some time to grow up.

You're right, I had forgotten what conference we're in. After beating UNC, Marquette, Indiana and Gonzaga they probably wouldn't even make the tourney this year if they were SEC. Bundy, they'd have three losses, at worst with our schedule. SEC football =/= SEC basketball. We currently have an RPI of 223 and are 7-15. They have an RPI of 14 and are 19-4. If they can do that with 3* talent there's no reason we can't finish in the top 5 of the SEC with the same talent.

EDIT: And before you try to bullcrap and say "Well, 25% of RPI is your win percentage" we have a SOS currently ranked 116th. There's is ranked 43rd.

Which brings up, should we start going and recruiting out of places like Indiana more? I am beginning to think that a big problem with these southeastern recruits is just awful high school coaching.

Freshman numbers:

Fred Thomas- 10.5 PPG, 3.5 Rebs...25.4% from 3 and climbing...Fred is 5th in the SEC play in steals per game
Craig Sword- 9.8PPG, 3.2 Rebs, 40% from the field (averaging 11.5 in SEC play)
Gavin Ware- 9 PPG, 7 Rebs...getting better all the time

Jamont Gordon- 14 PPG, 7 Rebs...41% from the field, 26% from 3...4.7 turnovers per game

Charles Rhodes- 3 PPG, 2 Rebs

Exactly. So how bout you wait a year or two, after Ray actually has a legit shot at winning, before you start bitching about him every other day.
