Quarterback A+

QB - Jeremy Johnson
QB - Nic Marshall
QB- Jason Smith

Marshall -could come in and start, physically gifted and mature.

Johnson - should be the Quarterback of the future.
Fits Gus' system perfectly.

Jason Smith - will get a shot at QB, but will probably swap to WR.

RB Grade A

RB - Cam Artis Payne
RB - Peyton Barber
RB - Jonathan "Rudy" Ford

Artis-Payne - should help get Tre Mason some immediate relief at RB.

Barber - I think Barber is the steal of the class. Extremely under rated due to an injury his junior year.

Ford - fastest high school player I've seen in person. He'll be absolutely perfect in the speed back role.

Wide Receiver grade B

WR - Tony Stevens
WR - Dominic Walker
WR - Earnest Robinson

Stevens - is tall and the type WR we need more of. Pretty good route runner and physically gifted.

Walker - Walker looks like a water bug. Insanely shifty and should develop into a decent slot receiver

Robinson - one player comes to mind when I see Robinson, Anquan Boldin
I know, I know, high praise, but Robinson is the best WR in this class.

O-Line Grade B.

Devonte Danzey
Deon Mix

Danzey - should come in and at least add depth from day one.

Mix - will probably take a redshirt so he can develop.

Defensive Line A+
* could be better with possible addition of Toby Johnson

Monty Adams
Ben Bradley
Carl Lawson
Elijah Daniel

Adams - insanely raw, but has everything you can't teach.
Fast First step, Size, and a bad attitude. Reminds me of Nick Fairley

Bradley - should come in and play from day one. We need help at DT, Badly.

Lawson - Best player in this class. He's the future leader of this team on the field and off.

Daniel - If you built a DE from the ground up it'd be Daniel. All the size in the world and should be able to help from Day 1. Hopefully his grades are in order.

LB Grade B

Cam Toney
Kenny Flowers
Brandon King
Khari Harding

Toney - what can I say, Toney never wavered, and was the rock of this class. Toney will be the future at MLB.

Flowers - Should come in and help at MLB from day one.

King - Should at least help at the "Star Position."

Harding - good Safety, but will likely play star position with his size.

Defensive backs B-

Mackenroe Alexander
Marcus Davis
Kamryn Melton

Alexander - highly under rated. Kid has a HUGE chip on his shoulder and is a hard worker. I think he develops into a good safety.

Melton - also a kid who never wavered. Think he is under rated as well.
Will probably redshirt this year.

Davis - Fast hips and doesn't let a lot behind him. Will most likely redshirt.

Jimmy Hutchinson - took a grey shirt, but he has an awesome leg.

Daniel Carlson - auburn is in the business of HUGE punters apparently. He can really boom punts.

Over all Grade - A.

For the coaches to have put this class together in a little over a month is nothing short of amazing.

Without all the breakdown I give the class a low A.

DLine damn good
QB- I believe we got the best QB for Malzahns O in JJ. I also think Nick Marshall can be the one to help us during transition, and may just knock our socks off. WR class is quite good and you add Smith it only improves. LB is solid, but missing out on Trey J and Foster hurt. Not the coaches fault, but it hurt. OLine we almost didn't need any! But happy with the gets. DB's I feel like we got some kids that can do something more so at Safety, but I am hoping some will surprise at corner. RB I think we did really good here and I have echoed Smuphy that Barber is a steal. All in all I am stoked to see Malzahn and crew put this puzzle together.

Hasn't Malzahn already said Marcus Davis will be playing slot receiver?

QB- A-
RB- A-
WR- B+
OL- B
DL- A
LB- C+
CB- B-
S- B

Overall Class- B+/A-

We missed on too many close targets to give us an A. Pulling in Foster, Bower, Alexander, Green (I still like Barber better) would have put us in that category

24/7 said he was recruited specifically for that. They could be wrong, but I think he'll start out there.

I read on the ITAT that according to Rivals this is the highest rated class ever by a 1st year staff in SEC.

I know it's been discussed ad nauseum, but glad we didn't get Foster. Too much drama and with the culture that was left bc of Chizik, we don't need those kinds of players.

Agree on Bower, Green and Alexander.

Hopefully we get Toby

Pass me what you're smoking. Yes it's a great class but I'm not nearly as sold on some of those guys as you

He also ran behind a very good OL.

Pretty sure Saban had the #9 ranked class a month after he arrived. Still, impressive by Malzahn nonetheless.

What do you mean? Highly rated OL prospects? Either way, Barber looks like the second coming of Ronnie Brown.

My freshman year of high school we had an OLine with 3 players who went DI with scholarships and another who went DII and the first 3 games our RB was completely average. We replaced him with a junior formerly defensive player only and he wound up being offensive player of the year for the state and a Rivals top 250 back.

Point being, a good blocking OLine typically only has 6ish guys blocking in the box, the RB still has work to do past the 3-4 yard mark and that is why Peyton Barber put up 1800 yards

If I was giving an overall grade without considering the circumstances of this coaching staff only having 2 months to do this I would give a A-/B+ but in reality given the hand they were dealt this class is an A+

QB - A+
I have a hard time believing that out of those 3 guys we don't at least have on SEC QB

HB - A
If we could have flipped Folston I would have given an A+ but still overall great job. Payne should give us 2 solid seasons the Barber/Ford combo could be a Tate/OMac 2.0 attack

WR - A
Flipping Stevens and Walker was huge. Stevens looks like a kid that could play right away. I am really cheering for Robinson to be successful and Davis could a fun guy to watch in this offense

OL - B
I expect Danzey to land a starting guard spot. Getting Mix was important because although we brought 7 OL in last season you need to have OL recruits coming in each year to keep that position stocked. I expect he will redshirt

DE - A+
Daniel and Lawson gives us a potential deadly combo down the road. I really think Lawson is going to make an impact this season

DT - A
Will go to A+ if we get Toby. Hopefully Bradley can push some of these underachieving veterans in the spring. I know Adams is raw but I think this is a kid you need to get out there and let him get a taste of SEC because we need him to be a boss down the road.

LB - B
Losing Foster, Johnson, and Davis hurts as it looked like we were heading for an elite LB haul. However I think Flowers is going to be the steal of the class and start at either the Mike or the Will. Toney is who I am cheering for the most. Kid has been all Auburn from the beginning

CB - B-
Props to Melton for sticking with us. No one has really talked about him but he has been just as loyal as Toney, Robinson, and JJ. If we could landed Mackenzie I would have given us an A

S - A-
I absolutely love the style and swag of the Harding and Mackenroe. We have been lacking that intensity and toughness as a team and these two bring the hurt when they hit.

Overall I am absolutely stoked about the potential of this class. Hope some of these big names develop like we hope
