| 2014 Mississippi State Recruiting thread. (Posted on 2/7/13 at 7:44 pm)
Check Bottom for Last Edited. I don't know about y'all, but I say it's time to move on and get working towards next year. Players will be ordered as follows: Name, position, size, location, 247 ranking/link, Rivals ranking/link, ESPN ranking/link. Location for MS players will simply be their High School. Football Commits: Nikia Cathey, ATH, 5'9 175 Westwood High School Memphis TN ***/ ***/ NR Jamoral Graham, ATH, 5'11 190 Newton County ****/ ****/ **** Dontavion Lee, RB, 6-1 200 Forrest County ***/ ** Jocquell Johnson, OL, 6-6 300 Copiah Lincoln(Juco), ***/ NR Lashard Durr, CB, 5'11 180, ***/ NR Chris Rayford, CB, 6'1 200, ***/ NR Logan Cooke, P/K, ***/ NR Norman Price, OT, 6'5 300, ***/ NR ~Elijah Staley, QB, 6'6 205, ***/ ***/ **** Darius Liggins, DE, 6'4 230, Oxford, ***/ **/ NR Basketball Commits: Maurice Dunlap, SG, 6'1 165, Amanda Elzy, NR/ NR/ NR ~Elijah Staley, SF, 6'6 205, Marietta GA, ***/ ****/ *** Top 10 instate Football Prospects(247): 1. Rod Taylor, OL, 6-3 305, Callaway **** 2. Markell Pack, WR, 6'2 180, Purvis **** ~FSU Commit~ 3. CJ Hampton, S, 6'1 185, Meridian **** ~OM Commit~ 4. Devin Voorheis, S, 6'2 185, Woodville **** ~LSU Commit~ 5. Aeris Williams, RB, 6'1 205, West Point **** 6. D.K. Buford, RB, 5'10 190, Lafayette **** ~OM Commit~ 7. Jamoral Graham, ATH, 5'11 190, Newton County, **** ~MSU Commit~ 7. Dayall Harris, WR, 6'4 185, Callaway **** ~OM Commit~ 9. Grant Harris, DE, 6'4 255, Clinton *** 10. Devonte Davis, S, 6'2 185, Starkville *** Top instate Basketball Prospect(s)(247): 1. Devin Booker, SG 6'5 185, Moss Point **** 2. Joniah White, F/C 6'10 195, Grenada *** 247 and ESPN both have Booker and White as their only ranked Basketball players in the state. Rivals hasn't updated the state lists yet. Baseball recruiting could be implemented if there's a common consensus wishing for it, but I don't know any baseball recruiting sites to link for the information so I'd need to be presented with such info. I'd also be willing to put up a section for both sports on who we're targeting, if it's wanted, but it wasn't in the 2013 thread. Y'all should know why I decided to exclude any scout rankings. Considered excluding ESPN as well, but I like the nice format of having three rankings. By 247's count we signed 17 guys in the 2013 recruiting cycle and back-counted four(for a total of 21 commits). That gives us the potential to back count 8 this year plus the normal 25 schollies for a total of 33 possible signees. I'm not sure as to the current number of scholarship players we have but I'm pretty sure we can't take that many. If Trent Simpson stays with us he'll end up Grayshirting and he'll count towards next years total too, which would technically give us 2 commits for the 2014 cycle. Based on my math(as seen on the bottom of page 5) We can sign a total of 3 Basketball Recruits and 14 Football Recruits. This includes EE's, as we can't exceed the 85 scholarship limit. Only other variable(other than unforseen attrition) is whether or not Cord Sandberg decides to go pro in Baseball. If he goes pro and doesn't attend then we'll gain one football slot. ~: Elijah Staley is a two-sport athlete and will(most likely) take up a football scholarship and walk-on to basketball. While he is a 'commit' he won't take a Basketball Schollie, so we can still sign another two BBall prospects.

Looks like a lot of the top 10 MS players are in MSU heavy territory...West Point, Neshoba, Newton, Starkville

I agree looking good for us territory wise. Hopefully the staff can lock them down. Also, I RA'd when you made the thread for sticky.

I was kinda expecting people to post in it before it got stickied Anybody know anything about EJ Moss? 247 ran an article about him being at our junior day just recently. Plays QB in AL. and none of our 247 "Targets" seem to be QB's.

Dunlap is a great shooter from what I have seen, just needs to get stronger. Reminds me of Timmy Bowers with more range. I'm looking forward to going to watch him at the big house later this month.

Kid is absolutely legit. He has NBA range already. Led my old school with 20 PPG his freshman year of high school. Won the State Championship last season with Amanda Elzy. Not to mention he has amazing hops. Kid is like 5'10 and rises to the rim like he's 6'5. It's not even funny how badly underrated he is.

He's listed on most sites as 6'1"- 6'2". I hope he's still growing. Ray needs to find a big man

That's being a little generous. I stood beside him at the Auburn game, I'm 5'10, he may 5'11/6 though.

I would think he's looking at Joniah White, who played at Madison Central last season. Kid's about 6'10. He's a 3 star on 247. He's built a lot like JV was. I'd hope Ray is going after him hard. I heard today that he's supposed to transfer back to Grenada for his senior year though.

We better get om LaDarius out of WP. He's going to be one of the best DL in the SEC. UM already offered. 6'4 330! Between him and the RB,WP couild put us in great position
