Texas is a big state... I don't know how your TV markets work... but it's possible UT could be lucrative since it's such a big state... However.... frick UT... don't want em.

The SEC has expanded too much already.Aggies,if you want expansion join the Mtn West or Conference-USA. No offense Mo,but you need to be in Big 10.I want LSU to play Georgia and Tennessee more. This conference is too big now.

I like A&M, been to a few games when I was stationed at Hood. Great having you guys in the SEC. University of Texas can go frick themselves they are never welcome I hope they get hit with the death penalty.

When I was a kid, those Arkansas vs. Texas A&M were a big, big deal. Back when they played the old Southwest Classic. Was a great rivalry with a long tradition.

I actually would love for Arkansas to have a legitimate rival in the SEC, of which they have a history with for nearly a century.

A&M made the best athletic decision in the history of their program to join the SEC. We are the premiere conference. None compare. The future of A&M looks so bright, it's nearly blinding. The draw of the SEC to kids is going to sink UT. They will rue the day they got to greedy and neutered the Big XII.

They had some good rivalries, like the Nebraska/OU game, and they lost it because of their greed. OU is slipping and UT is dropping like a rock.

The irony is... OU played their cards right. Were never arrogant and still remain an extremely sought after program. There is a slight possibility for OU to one day join the SEC. There is zero for Texas.

Look no further than the spokesman for each program:

Mack Brown: "We should win a national championship in two or three years."

Kevin Sumlin: "I've said that from the beginning, we're in the best league in the country for football and as new guys to the league we've got to prove ourselves. I think our guys understand that, I think as coaches we understand it."

Sumlin has been extremely tight-lipped about his successes. He hasn't bragged, only said that they believed they had a lot to prove. He's not out there talking about national championships. He's talking about making the SEC believe they made the right choice in selecting them.

I mean... come on. You gotta like that.

I don't see Tejas being willing to join the SEC anyway, TBH. They may talk about it, but when it comes down to it? They like being the big fish in the pond, and their egos and sense of entitlement wouldn't allow them to make the move.

I believe this. Adding Texas and and/or Oklahoma probably would initially strengthen the conference but one has to understand their mentality. Both want to consistently be the rulers of the pack and that is essentially what they have, though Kansas State has recently messed things up a bit.

Texas isn't like A&M, Arkansas, Missouri, or ANYONE else for that matter. They are not a good fit for the SEC, though they are a worthy opponent.

There is a lot of Longhorn fear on this thread and on the rant in general, but I don't think all parties will come to agreement, so you folks can quit worrying.

As for blaming Texas for everything bad, here is the real reason for their whiney asses to run away from the Big 12 & SWC:

All time UT records against following opponents:

Arkansas 56-21
Nebraska 10-4
A&Enema 76-37-5 (most victories over any opponent, Rice a close 2nd at 71-21-1)

Mizzou & CU - who cares

As long as Boone Pickens is alive and his money flows in and around Oklahoma, Oklahoma is saddled with the "cowboy problem".

The only "fear" we have is that y'all get rid of Powers and Dodds, calming the nuclear waste spillage currently seeping out of Belmont Hall.

I don't believe for one second that Powers has had any conversations with Slive. Powers is a CAL-BERKELY graduate and his dream is to turn Texas into UC-Austin. Can't do that outside of the Pelosi 12.

Rest assured, it's not fear. I wish Arkansas could play Texas every year OOC. We have a 2-2 record against y'all since joining the SEC. SWC record against Texas doesn't even count imo. Why do you think we left?

"...Bla Bla Bla..."
Wrong.

There is an ongoing discussion on the Texas sites that they need to join the SEC, because they see what is happening with A&M. I'd like the SEC school opinions here - NO A&M FANS. Our opinion is obvious.

My opinion is that A&M already served up Texas, and the sips bring more trouble than they are worth (A&M fan opinion). I think NC and VA are the eventual targets.

Texas will not go to the SEC, harder for them to win National Title. That's why I laugh when people think all these power houses want to join the SEC, if they do that it'll be harder to get into the 4 team playoff. Just stay in your easy conference, win your conference then you'll have a good chance to get into the playoffs.

I could actually see Texas being an Independent at some point in the future. They are not a healthy component for any conference ...never have been and never will be imo. They're more like Notre Dame, with the exception that Notre Dame would probably be a good addition for some conference. But not Texas.

Fear that Texas will be a poor business partner, which is all a conference really is- a business partnership.

You know, other anchor programs in major conferences like Bama, USCw, and tOSU/Michigan all have all-time win advantages over their conference rivals without running those rivals off.

The difference between them and Texas is that they don't demand a historical advantage over fellow conference programs AND and an economic advantage. They are content with the historical advantage because they realize without good opponents their future glory is limited.

Yeah they would have to fall in line and be able to accept being on the same level as everyone else. I can tell you they would never do that. They think they are God's gift to the world in everything they do.

You do realize that the big 12 shares tier 1 and 2 rights equally? Just like the SEC, and just like the sec, 3rd tier rights remain with the school. The LHN may be an abortion but it does fall in tier 3. So with this abortion of a network does it really matter to any colleges out there?

You do know they want to play two or three conference home games on their network, right? So you want to pay for the LHN to watch your team play an SEC game? Because in their minds, that makes perfect sense.

For the last two seasons each, they had at least one nonconference home game (2 in 2012) and one CONFERENCE home game on their network. (Kansas in 2011, Iowa State in 2012). They attempted to force Texas Tech to allow their game on the network by threatening to keep them off of all ESPN and ABC broadcasts. Last year, Texas Tech threatened to remove the Texas State game entirely and play an 11 game season if it was broadcast on the Longhorn Network. ESPN REFUSES to allow ESPN3 to broadcast LHN games. That should tell you everything you need to know.

That reminds me of the first year when the LHN launched and the Kansas game was put on there (despite how that completely ruined the Big 12's compensation structure) to help the LHN get picked up and Texas fans both IRL and online told me "I'ts a temp thing, it's just this year, it's just to get the LHN off the ground."

Now here we are years later and the LHN getting a Big 12 conference game is almost institutionalized. That is how they roll.

Both tx and okie were asked to join several years ago and said no. The next teams will be Duke + 1.
Soon.
