I don't think he will.
But anything could happen.

Can he? Maybe. I do think he'll be in the running

The helmet knocked off/fumble recovery alone will stay in voters minds. He'll be in top 3.

Murray vs Clowney in the first week of September will determine which one wins the Heisman next year. Based on history, it's not looking good for Murray. But people won't remember last year or the year before, they'll remember that game, and what Clowney does. That is going to be one very very hyped game in Athens. Booked your hotel yet?

Well he finished 6th this season. If he can get like 15 sacks maybe bout 6FF a couple of pick six's and maybe rush for about 2td's yeah he could get it. Otherwise, I doubt that. He will finish in the top 3 though.

To be honest one of the best things to happen for Clowney's Heisman campaign happened on that monster hit vs Michigan. He was already well known in the SEC but that hit made him well known in the Sports world. Hell I just today he is still the reigning 17X "Best of the Best" on Sportscenter for that hit.
The more coverage = the better when it comes to the Heisman.

First step is creating a fake girlfriend, then she has to die a horrible death a week before the voting.

^ I'd like to play A&M in ATL next year. Clowney v Manziel.
I'd love for that to happen. It would be a great way to kick off our cross-divisional rivalry.

Won't happen. Derrick Thomas had 27 sacks in one year and was 10th in Heisman voting.
If Clowney gets 27 sacks next year he will win the Heisman.

JD Clowney Heisman?
Can he be the first true defensive player to win the Heisman?
He needs a make believe girl friend first!

I'd go for that just so I could see Clowney knock the hell out of Manziel.

Clowney also won't have Barry fricking Sanders lighting the college world on fire like DT was up against in '88

Nope, he'll probably not have as good of a season next year, due to the hype. No shot IMO.

I won't believe it until he is a haircut.

He's gotta have more impressive number than sack totals. Multiple forced fumbles and INTs for TDs, and in big games. How do you have a "Heisman moment" against a spare Michigan running back? You can't. It has to be against the Johnny Football's of the world.

INTs for TDs
pretty rare for DEs. if it happens, then great, but it definitely isn't necessary.
a more important stat would be TFL

I agree, but to be a difference maker, and Heisman caliber, you have to to extraordinary things. Piling up TFL and sack totals against spare OOC opponents isn't going to give him the trophy. That's the point I was making.

quote:Do you even remember why that was such an important play? That turned the game around for us after the ref gave them the first down when they faked the punt on 4th down. Clowney has had at least 3 game saving sacks/tackles with a forced fumble. As long as he doesn't get injured, he will finish top 5 in voting.
