I was gonna say Zow. He was the first QB Alabama ever had that I actually thought was good. I remember the Anniston Star cover after the win over LSU in '98: "ZOW WOWS". I thought it was the greatest thing ever.

Especially after Freddie Kitchens

What's his face... Played with that other dude that was pretty good too.

Stewart Patridge was solid...

Arkansas it's probably Brad Taylor
Taylors only talent was how far he could throw a football. Holtz would put him in at the end of a game to let him overthrow a receiver by 20 yards and let the crowd go nuts. Outside of that he should have been playing at Harding.

For Ole Miss I would go with Norris Weese.

that 528 yd passing game vs Bama might have been one of the greatest SEC performances of all time

I went to Rohan Davey's US naturalization ceremony thing when I was in jr high. Coolest field trip ever. Rohan is the darkest black dude I've ever seen IRL.

Tops the list of forgetten good QBs at LSU.

I'm too hard on him, but he was a great passer.

I'm hard on the whole era - Risher/Wickersham/Hodson, because they combined for 1-5 in bowl games, usually losing in embarassing fashion.

Steve Sloan was a great quarterback sandwiched between Namath and Stabler. He off the field persona was 180 degrees from the other 2.

How about Scott Hunter? That Ole Miss air war between he and Archie Manning is a classic.

frick that guy... Supposedly he assembled the best coaching staff in OM history (before my time but I know Romeo Crennel was an assistant) and then preceded to run us into the ground.

When Zow was on, he was as great as anybody...but too inconsistent.

Sloan was probably better than I want to give him credit. Admittedly, I never liked his public religious persona - he makes Tim Tebow look like Nick Fairley.

My favorite "unknown" quarterback was Gary Hollingsworth. Ask the 89 Ole Miss Rebels about him.

Sloan was a lazy coach that preferred to play golf in the off-season. Ole Miss had already hit the ground when he got there.

Wasn't it Sloan that got Ole Miss on probation then Brewer tried to get them the death penalty?

Kind of like Pell and Hall at Florida?

John Lastinger, who followed Buck Belue.

11-1 as a junior with Herschel in the backfield and
10-1-1 as senior without ole number 34.

Scored a memorable TD for a win against number one Texas in the Cotton Bowl in 1984.

He's the actual answer to my trivia question. I normally ask, "Q: Who was UGA's QB when they won the championship with Herschel? A: It doesn't matter. Could have been anybody - could have been me." However, Lastinger was a decent QB - #34 casts a tall, wide shadow, even 30 years on.
