I love baseball shittalk, just cause it's nice to have a thread that isn't a Bama circlejerk.

If I were you, just go to OM and Arky. USCe's park is modeled after Baum anyway. Also you'd have to travel 1000 miles more. Swayze and Baum are both extremely solid picks.

USC's park is modeled after Baum? lulz

Carolina Stadium is modeled after no one and was designed by the same architects ( Populous - HOK) that drew-up Baltimore's park and Bill Murray's Charleston Riverdogs home in in SC, named The Joe.

Modeled after Baum my arse. There were some design aspects that Ray Tanner and Mike McGee both liked about Baum, about The Joe, about OP at Camden Yards, etc., but Carolina Stadium was not modeled specifically after any of them.

I never realized how insecure Arkie fans were until just recently. I think I have made this observation a few times now, in the past few weeks. It has become glaringly obvious and, I have to admit, I'm a little disappointed in some Arkie fans.

Which did Arkansas' in 1996.

It's crazy how HOK does pretty much every new stadium now.

That company has to be so fricking rich, they even do a lot of the oversea soccer stadiums to go with half the NFL/NHL/MLB.

I've been to three series in Columbia: '99, '03, and '05. They built a new stadium between '99 and '03. As cold as it is when the college season starts up there, I don't think college baseball has much room to grow.

I'm not young. I'm 41 and will be with my wife and son. I am interested in more than just baseball. I like baseball roadies because I've got time between games to really check out a town. Provided there's no smoking in bars, I love to bar hop in college towns.

USCe and Tennessee would normally be out of the question, as I am going to be driving. However, I am getting close to quitting my current job. If that happens this season, I will have all the time in the world (and enough savings to relax the rest of the season).

There was a big article about Arkansas' facilities in a Columbia newspaper in the early 00s that stated Carolina Stadium's design was influenced a lot by Baum. It talked about how they visited our facilities to gather ideas. Its not a lie, and it came from your own media. That's where it comes from.

USCe and Arkansas.

USCe to see one of the SEC's best programs for the past few years.

Arkansas to see this year's top team (and the scenery in NWA is always nice).

you sound like a texan. i got news for you. ole miss and usce and lsu would be better road trips than ar-kansas. hell, knoxville would be too even if their team sucks as knowville is a great place to party and it's next to the smokies.

and that has nothing to do with how nice your stadium is...

Fact: USC was so jealous of Arkansas's stadium that they copied most aspects of Baum. Except that ours is still nicer(unless you want to be sitting on the 20th row of metal bleachers in LF).

This is not accurate at all...Baum was designed for pre-season #1 rankings, and Carolina Stadium was built for CWS titles....entirely different designs....

My list might look like this if I was a new member in the SEC :

#1 LSU, yeah you do not play them but a road trip to Baton Rouge is a requirement of SEC membership if you read the fine print of the contract.
#2 USC, probably the best road trip where TAMU will actually be playing
#3 Arkansas, because you are TAMU and you get to renew old rivalries from the SWC days (beside Fayetteville has changed much since then)
#4 Ole Miss, because it is a trip to Oxford
#5 Tennessee, only because it is the end of the season and not early in the season when it can snow in Knoxville
#6 Alabama, unless you are seeing TAMU women play softball as you should be in Hoover for the post season.

Arkansas has the best stadium, the most scenic environment, and the weather will be perfect for baseball. Oh, and you'll also get to watch your team go against the best baseball team in the country. Plus we allow coolers in the outfield. Our series is in late April and nothing beats springs up in the Ozarks. If you have some time to kill, maybe consider driving up through 71 or something so you can get the scenic view.

Also that is on 4/20 weekend so you can go get high with some hippies on Dickson afterwards.
