Authorities planned to charge him with aggravated robbery, Duncanville police spokesman Doug Sisk said.

The robbery occurred about 2 a.m. Tuesday at the 7-Eleven at U.S. Highway 67 and Cockrell Hill Road, police said. A gunman demanded money from an employee, who was shot in the thigh after refusing to hand it over.

The employee was taken to Methodist Charlton Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Lewis ran for 5,264 yards as a running back at Texas A&M from 1987 to 1990, and he was an All-America selection in 1990. He was drafted by the Chicago Bears and played just over two seasons.

Lewis was a senior my freshman year. Dude was an incredible running back. He wasn't very big, but it seemed like he could always fall forward for two or three more yards when he was tackled.

He tested positive for cocaine at the NFL combines, fell way down in the draft, and has been pretty much a useless human being ever since. Actually, I read an interview with him in the last year or two that led me to believe that he had finally gotten his shite together.

Just plain sad for a kid from that part of Dallas (played at Dallas Carter) to have the talent to be a rich MFer and maybe do something for those around him and just waste it.

Yeah, all major gas stations/rest stops are heavily insured and tell their employees to give them the money. Anyone who resists is an idiot, though it is funny when the cashier has a shotgun under the counter and blows the robber away.

This story is a real bummer. Lewis was such a beast. He was such a highly rated recruit and then came to A&M and was awesome for 4 years. I thought for sure he was going to be a 1st Round pick who played in the NFL for a long time.

Then he gets the positive cocaine test and fell to the 5th Round before spiraling into oblivion.

The guy was the all time leading rusher in the SWC, at the time he was one of only a few guys that had ever rushed for 5k yards. Sad, sad story.

I didn't realize he was in my Econ class when I was a freshman until he strolled into our final about 15 min late with his Chicago Bears sweatsuit on. Prof took one look at him and said nope, gtfo. He didn't mind.
