5.7 3* RB Matthew Dayes to Vandy

Committed this morning over NC State. #27 ranked RB in America by Rivals was the Broward Co. Florida player of the year over RB Alex Collins and many other highly ranked players.
Dominated high level talent several times this season including a 200 yd and 3 TD rushing performance against Tampa Armwood HS. Also led his team to the 8A state championship game where he rushed for over 190 yds in a losing effort.
VU wanted him anyway regardless of the Ford situation but it definitely makes VU's backfield situation much better with the 2013 class.

God dammit...I even googled him. His height was at 5'8"..thought it was close enough.

Surely, he'll redshirt this upcoming season since Kimbrow has the starter spot locked down.

depending on the style of offense, you need at least three runningbacks getting carries (two guys getting meaningful carries, one guy doing mop-up work), IMO... and the odds that your top two will play 12 games and not miss significant time due to injuries is pretty slim, so you need to have a third guy in the mix.
If a guy can play, I don't see any reason to redshirt a healthy freshman runningback... it's gotta be the easiest position to contribute right away.

This is Vandy's 13th 5.7 3* in this class racking up on those borderline guys with good offers.

Exactly. While Kimbrow did get some decent carries this year, the great majority went to Stacy. I'd expect the same next year but with Kimbrow taking a lion's share.
