Outdoor Cooking - Gas or Charcoal?

I've tried them all, my current love is my Green Egg (with plate setter). I'll never go back to gas.
I can smoke brisket/butts/ribs low and slow at 225 all day (again with the plate setter), and sear steaks at 700f.
Country style ribs
Pizza - looks good, but was a total disaster. The bottom looked like the underside of the space shuttle after landing.
*Yeah there is a food board on TD. I know.

Charcoal. This isn't even a question. Why anyone uses a gas grill is honestly beyond me.

It depends on what and when I am cooking. Of course charcoal is preferable. On weekends and holidays I always use charcoal. However I grill almost daily during the week. For those days when I just want to grill a couple of chicken breasts quickly after work, I use a gas grill.

I agree charcoal is much better without a doubt, but I think the convenience of gas plays a big part as to why people use it.

Taste the meat, not the heat

I guess I never considered charcoal an inconvenience. Start the fire, pour a drink, and by the time your drink is gone it's time to grill.

It probably isn't to most guys. I was a little intimidated by it until I got the hang of it. Now, I don't like using gas at all.

This. Even on weeknights.

If I don't have time for charcoal, I don't cook.
Charcoal, hands down.

Charcoal all the way.
Gas grilled meat just doesn't have the same outdoors taste to me.

Especially on weekdays
Watching the charcoal burn is "me" time I didn't post to the bourbon thread because I drink Old Forester, or Dewars White if I'm in a Scotch mood.
I loves me some 12 year old single malt, but if I'm sitting outside watching the grill heat up it doesn't matter if it's Usher's Green Stripe.
Great way to end a day.

You got that shite right. I almost hate when it's time to cook. It's almost depressing.
