So basically we do a better job of preparing our elite talent for the nfl

You just don't get much elite talent.

What the frick? This list sucks.

quote:

Paul Oliver, DB, 2003 class

Was a great CB for us. He single handedly shut down Calvin Johnson 2 straight years, which nobody else in cfb did. Went pretty high in the supp draft and played for a while for the chargers.

quote:

Richard Samuel, RB, 2008 class

Legit bust, due to coaches playing him out of position his whole career. He is a natural born LB yet we played him at RB. So yeah, I'll buy this one. Keep in mind, his Rivals position was "athlete", not RB.

quote:

Branden Smith, DB/KR, 2009 class

What? How? He has been a very serviceable CB for us his whole career and has scored a few touchdowns on offense as well. 4 year starters

quote:

Isaiah Crowell, RB, 2011 class

An electric true freshman RB. He ran for about 850 yards as a TFR in the SEC. People point to his off the field issues, but he more than lived up to the hype on the field.

I can think of like 10 better choices for this topic. Whoever compiled this list did a very poor job.

I thought he never made it in to school. Either way, he never played a down.

He practiced some. But his knee hurt and various other problems until he just called it quits.

Love and Scott were buried in a class that produced close to 10 first round draft picks. Not necessarily busts, just processed
I would consider that a bust. As a 5*, you are pretty much expected to contribute for a few years. I don't recall for Scott, but Love never even sniffed meaningful snaps.

As far as the whole Perriloux/Brown/Crowell thing, if a player is kicked off the team, IMO he is a bust. These guys were expected to perform and didn't. Part of recruiting is knowing if they will go and do something stupid to put the team in a bad position. Perriloux screwed over LSU for years. That is a bust.

- Arkansas actually talked their way into getting five star recruits onto their campus?

We've had several.

Winston is the only real "bust" although he was a contributor every year, just didn't live up to the hype.

Mustain won every game he started and was the starter as a true freshmen on a team that won the SEC-W. He transferred for reasons I choice not to discussed as the reasons are out there, he went to SC rode the bench behind other 5* QBs out there.

Shh....that can be everybody else's little secret.

In those monumentally rare occasions where they've actually had elite talent(" (D Mac, jones, hillis) they usually Petrino it all up.

Mitch Mustain for me. Dude failed at two places and ended his career as like a fourth stringer

Speaking of Bama busts in the 2008 class, does anybody remember Alonzo Lawrence? He was almost as hyped up as Dee Milliner and Dre Kirkpatrick coming out of high school. People were raving about his cover abilities and how impressive he looked shutting down Julio in the HS All-Star game practices. He was supposed to be the next big thing and he ended up not even playing a single down for Bama. I wonder whatever happened to him.

CyKo and Haha look to be in the not bust category as they were big parts of our team this year. I can see Dee Hart transferring because I am not sure how much playing time he really is going to get in the future. Eddie Williams really needs to find a spot and stick to it. I would like to see him take over for Haha when he leaves.

Wasn't Brent Calloway a 5*?

He was a 4 star from Mississippi. Think he's in the CFL now, even had a tryout for the lions last year.

Dropped to 4* when he flipped to AU. I don't think they had time to bump him back up when he flipped again.

Also, can we stop calling a person "haha"? It is just an awful nickname and awkward to say and read.

You're talking about kids 18-22. No one, not even your almighty Saban can predict whether kids will do something stupid.

I know, but you don't have to use it. Don't you feel silly saying it. It is awkward to hear announcers on tv try to use it.

I can't be the only one that thinks this.
