When people start telling you they aren't afraid, that's how you know fear is starting to set in.

Nope. When people aren't intimidated, they feel no need to tell you that they aren't intimidated. They would never even think to mention it.

Nobody bothers to start threads letting Kentucky fans know that they aren't afraid of their program.

Texas A&M had a really good year, and yes, they beat Bama at Tuscaloosa. They did however lose to Florida and LSU at Kyle Field. Coach Sumlin did a fine job, but he did not develop the system being run at A&M; he learned his offense under Art Briles who is a great offensive coach. Even a guy like Briles could not win without talent, and A&M must have talent every year to accomplish what they did this year. Time will tell, and they might win an SEC championship. One year of success and one win over Bama doesn't scare anyone folks. The Aggies do have a favorable schedule next year, but Alabama will basically have the entire offseason to prepare for Week 3. The Tigers will also get you in Baton Rouge this year , and Oxford will not be a picnic. I respect you guys, but you gotta earn your stripes.

you did so well with an accurate subject. then fricked it all up with your inaccurate facts. However inaccurate he may be about sumlin no one fears aTm.

They did this their first year in the SEC, with a freshman QB, a brand new system, brand new coaching staff, on their third road game in a row.

No team in the country went undefeated this year. The Florida game was a loss by three, in Johnny's first game of his career. Do you really not thing A&M would have wiped the floor with Florida any other week of the season? You surely aren't that stupid.

What? At what point did Sumlin ever coach under Briles? Well maybe you are that stupid.

The same applies for every team ever. LSU can't win without talent.

You're really going out on a limb, here.

Dumb. It was a top 5 finish. Outside of winning the national championship(which would have happened if A&M had Alabama's SEC schedule), what is supposed to?

quote:

The Aggies do have a favorable schedule next year, but Alabama will basically have the entire offseason to prepare for Week 3.

And A&M has just as long to prepare.

quote:

You lose half your team, couldn't beat Clemson, and lost to Alabama in Baton Rouge last year.

quote:

Oxford will not be a picnic

As long as A&M doesn' turn the ball over 6 times, they will be fine. And even if they do? They'll probably still win.

I respect you guys,

Obviously you don't.

First of all - congrats on a great season. Aggie surprised everyone.

To be fair though, this season was an anomaly in the SEC. Part of what makes this conference the best is the gauntlet that is usually 3-4 highly ranked teams on your conference schedule each year. Add in another couple for OOC and/or cross divisional opponent so that by year end you've faced 5-6 ranked opponents. It would usually be incredibly difficult to not only win all of these games, but really just to stay healthy enough to field a NC caliber team.

Aggie had the benefit of coming into the SEC in a rebuilding year for Bama, a year for LSU plagued by injuries and off the field issues, and dumpster fires at Arkie and Auburn. We won't know how competitive Aggie can really be until order is restored and all of these teams are back to normal. Right now they should just count themselves lucky that they get to ease their way into the conference and only need to deal with a few NC level teams each year.

Until that happens and Aggie dominates no one will be afraid of A&M. But as cocky as their fans are, that game will probably be circled on everyone's calendar so I'm sure they'll get the best everyone has to offer next year - it might not be the usual gauntlet, but it could be a taste of what's to come.

Art Briles is scared of A&M.

Now run away back to Waco before Deloss Dodds finds out that you are off the reservation.

So Bama was rebuilding and still their only loss was to A&M and they won a NC? Damn, I guess they REALLY will be tough when they have their stuff together.

A&M sure did have a cakewalk schedule last year as well. After all, 12 straight games without a bye and 5 of 6 on the road in the middle of the season is cake. It was nice to get UF in such a down year as well from the East.

I think the Art Briles and "Texas Tech connection" posts were better.

The funny thing is A&M could go undefeated next year and win every game by at least 20 and Ranters would be on here going, "Yeah, maybe you were ok in a down year for the SEC but look at how many more NC's we have won in the last X number of years!" We get it, we will always be the newbies to some of you and any respect will come slowly if at all. No worries. The SEC is still a big bastion of brotherly love compared to where we came from.

Fear A&M or don't, I couldn't care less. We aren't going anywhere though.

Actually yeah they're usually a lot tougher than they were this year. If 2012 A&M played 2011 Bama or LSU the whole team would be in treatment for PTSD.
