Will it happen? Can it happen? We are already well ahead of Moore's Law. I think the current prediction is 2030 or so.

I'm not sure that it will happen when Kurzweil says it will happen. I'm sure there will be snags along the way. Also, consider the "hype cycle"

Aside from nuclear war, I don't see what can stop it, but I think it's arrival will be later than 2030.
