since history is included in the title
I will go with the 59 Ole Miss LSU game
hell CBS played the punt return again this year
how often do you hear of games so long ago?
that game was a national game before such things exsisted

Yea, I was responding to the Ole Miss fan who thought they beat Florida in 2009.

The 1926 Rose Bowl gets a lot of airplay when sportscasters talk about the history of football dominance in the South.

I did get the 2008/09 SECCGs confused.. It's tough keeping track when you never get to play in ATL and have nothing to base it off of
Glad someone agreed with me about 59 OM/LSU ... My dad told me there was a media frenzy around that game... The kind of media attention that only bowl games got back then

1959 OM/LSU
#1 vs. #2.
Only game more than 10 years old that is replayed several times a year.

Where is that exactly replayed? I don't think I've ever seen that.

obviously the times were very very different but he is right, the media attention for the game, at that time, was rather unprecedented
national media outlets didn't cover regular season southern football
but they all covered the 59 OM/LSU game. NYT, CBS TV etc...
I've seen a "clip" of the CBS News (national evening edition) discussing the game. Things like that just didn't happen in that era

One that could have redefined Tennessee will always be 11/14/1998. If Stoerner holds on to the ball and we successfully nurse the clock, UT likely doesn't play for the NC. In fact, given the landscape of the SEC at the time it's highly unlikely UT gets back to the mountain top as they have shown.
That game saves UT from having to look back to 1951 as their last AP National Title. 62 years.

oh it mattered. It showed that Bama was robbed and gave the media enough of a reason to allow order to be restored.
Robbed? You Demi god chose to kick 3 career long fgs instead of punting. Had JLee not gift wrapped both of your only scores, LSU wins in regulation.

You mean the only play more than 10 years old that is replayed several times a year. Billy Cannon's punt return is the only thing people remember from that game.
You have an argument for biggest play in SEC history, but not biggest game.

So I guess the interception AJ McCarron gift wrapped you doesn't count for anything?

Not true at all. based on what both Bama and LSU did to the rest of the opponents on their schedules that season, it made it painfully obvious that they were the best two teams. After all that is what the BCS was designed to do.
False. The bcs says NOTHING about two BEST teams. It's say #1vs#2 and usually those teams are chosen on their résumé. 2011 Bama? Not so much

Over a year later and some LSU fans are still bitching and moaning

One of the most important in college football history.
Without that game, there's no playoff in 2014.
