I see 1 recruit listed from Georgia, a 4 star linebacker. If you look at his current class though, he's pulling elite players nationwide

Here is breakdown by state for this year's recruits. Note that one of the two FL kids is a Punter.
He's got 5 commits from the South (1 Punter). If you include TX then it's 7.
He's doing OK in the "South" but not the State of Florida. He's not going to do any better than any other OSU coach in FL has ever done because of how he left and his personality.

Thats legit as hell. Most of those kids played in the damn all star games as well.
Ohio has talent in-state as well.
I read somewhere he had offered more Southern players and visited more Southern players than any coach in OSU history.

John Cooper used to get a ton of kids from the south as well. Weren't Ohio State fans pissed off at Cooper because he was so worried about recruiting players from southern states such as Florida that it allowed Michigan to sign a lot of top players from the state of Ohio and those players helped Michigan beat Ohio State every year?

Happening somewhat again. Hoke is really pressing Ohio these days because Urban only goes after the cream of the crop and missing some underrated guys.
However, Urban is recruiting better players from all over. OSU is going to win 8/10 B1G championships IMO.

If true, he's going to start rubbing some folks the wrong way. I talked to a walk-on's mother here in Tuscaloosa, and their family is from Ohio. We talked for a good hour about her son and how/why he decided to come to Alabama. He came here because, one his HS coaches told him that he would only play in D-III, and two he wants to be a coach. BTW he's on the 105 roster. Anyways, I told her that was pretty messed up about the coaches treating her son that way, and she replied, that's because a lot of Ohio St. former player's son go to his school and schools around them. She said that they get first servings, and everyone else has to deal. Even brought up the Duron Carter stuff and said that's a perfect example of what goes on up there.
Now before anyone says she sounds like a bitter woman, that's not the case. She didn't want her son to come down here. She wanted him to take one of the D-III offers. Told me her son was on a short leash and the minute his grades drop a single letter, he has to come back home and find another school to go to. (She's a retired NYPD

No idea if Meyer does it; it's hard to get there no matter what school you are, and the only way to win it is to get there

You are being way to kind...... My son met urban and he is a class "A" number 1 douchebag. His ego ran him out of the SEC because his gig was up.

Urban Meyer fled the SEC because he could no longer beat the best teams and he went to OSU who also can not beat the SEC. CUM will win many games at OSU only to lose to the SEC if he makes the big dance.

I disagree that the Big-10 as a whole can ever sustain long term success over the SEC in terms of the depth of talent on the field. But one or two programs can certainly be just as elite as any. OSU is the most likely candidate.
Meyer knows and has said repeatedly that programs in the Big-10 must recruit the Southern athlete. I think that is particularly the case in the skill positions and defensive line. You will see him have a significant presence in the South in recruiting.

Only the playoffs matter in 2014 conferences as whole will be greatly diminished. The other bowl games will be for bragging rights but the playoffs is how things will be stacked.
Illinois also producing as much talent as South Carolina but no one knows that, ha. Missouri should be heading directly east for their talent.

Just as I said earlier they are missing the skill players and subpar coaching. Prime example (another conference with talent).. The Big12 is so pass happy they have lost the luster on defense when the SEC has put an emphasis on it. OU who is a traditionally a very strong program hasn't beaten an SEC team since 2001.

I am not a big Urban Meyer guy but I still think the talk that he left because he was afraid he couldn't win anymore is a bit of a stretch. He had one bad year. The guy could flat out recruit and with the advantages of FL, he would have found the guys needed to get it done. A guy like Driskell could be very effective in his system (probably the reason he recruited him).
