I hate Norm for many reasons, but he had some horrific losses.

The worst Norm loss was probably was one of our best wins. We rolled into Hearns beat them and he was so pissed at Alford. When Fontleroy dunked on the dude I thought Norm was ready to quit. We acted like asses that night on the bench. Alford told our guys to rub it in also.

Glad I was still sucking my thumb at that time. I would've probably made Norm look tame had I been watching that game.

Sao that was same year Arkansas escaped because of Lawrence Moten calling a TO in Austin. That tourney was crazy. Tyus Edney gets hurt in FF and Cameron Dollar comes in and makes Beck look like a Junior High kid and Toby Bailey went nuts that night. You had Marques Johnson on the bench looking like he was a member of Al Qaeda

Just did. Hell of a dunk

ETA: I was thinking of the wrong game. I was actually a little older when that '99 game was played

LIttle Lord Fontleroy making MU quit. It

We were such assholes on the bench. Rowe chewed our asses when we got home for not being classy. Alford responded with, Coach it's MU who cares.

That year was the year we beat Mizzou Wisconsin and Tennessee and I think MU and Tennessee fired their coaches Duke hammered us in sweet 16 Alford bolted to Iowa.

That is what made the Guardians Classic in KC 2 years later so full of hate Alford being Alford, Snyder being Snyder

But our defense was terrible last season (and this season), and Norfolk State was white hot that day. We also had no answers for current NBA player Kyle O'Quinn, who dominated us inside all game long. It was a perfect storm of their guards being able to keep up with ours (which was our strength), and their big men dominating our lack there-of.
Thank you for providing a non-flame answer to my non-flame question.

I watched the Norfolk State-Missouri game at a sportsbook where many Missouri fans had congregated. At tipoff, Missouri was something like a 21 1/2 point favorite. All of the Missouri fans that I talked to were excited about joining the SEC and bullish on their tournament hopes. Y'all had just won the Big 12 tournament, so who care blame y'all?

Then they played the game. I kept waiting for Mizzou to turn it around, but it never happened. For the most part, Missouri fans were in a state of shock and had that thousand yard stare. I'm glad that I didn't throw any money down on y'all. I had lost enough money on Missouri in 2011.

At least Duke did their part to take some of the heat from Missouri. Two #2 seeds went down in the opening round on that Friday. Unreal.

True that. Speaking of which, his name popped up quite a bit last time around before we hired Haith. Would be an interesting candidate if Haith gets the boot.

Never bet on us unless you're betting in favor of our opponent. Trust me.

I'll never forget that day for the rest of my life. Watched it in the media room in our dorm building. Halftime I think we were up 1, told myself we'd wear them down in the second half. By the time we got down to the last 10 minutes and we were still toe-and-toe, I knew, due to our aforementioned "Mizzou luck", that this was the kick in the balls that I mentioned in the OP, and that we were doomed. Turned the game off with 2 minutes left and still tied, went for a long, long walk just shattered and dumbfounded. Wanted to cry but I couldn't--just pure shock had taken over. Never bothered to go back and watch those final 2 minutes, and never will.

Only saving grace was duke losing to Lehigh later that day as you said.

Alford won't come I bet. He loves New Mexico and he is king. I think he comes to IU eventually. He never leaves Iowa but they lied to him about upgrades and entrance items.

Yeah, our AD wouldn't pursue him anyways. He's a PRO at not doing what the fans want him to do. It took a mass organization/campaigning of the fanbase directly to the Board just to get us to the SEC. Firmly believe without the overwhelming fan outcry, and our AD acknowledged as much, that we'd still be in the Big 12. The SEC move was a truly fan-driven move.
