1. 1960 undefeated football season/national champions? Lol nope: rival kansas uses ineligible player and ruins our perfect season in the last game of the season.
2. 1990 upsetting #1 Colorado? Lol nope: referees allow 5 downs and rule a touchdown on the fifth down even though replays show the ball did not break the plane. Colorado goes on to be national champions.
3. 1995 Mizzou up by 1 in NCAA tourney vs UCLA with seconds left for the win? Lol nope: Tyus Edney drives the entire floor in a matter of seconds and lays the ball in as time expires for the W. UCLA goes on to win the national title.
4. 1997 beating rival Nebraska in Lincoln for the first time in 20 years? Lol nope: Hail Mary pass is deflected into the air off of Mizzou safety's foot, kicked into the air again by Nebraska receiver, and caught by another Nebraska player for the touchdown as time expires. Mizzou loses in OT.
5. 2007 Mizzou goes 11-1 to earn #1 ranking going into final week of season. National championship game? Lol nope: after defeating rival kansas to become #1 and earning a spot in the conference championships game, Mizzou gets beat by Oklahoma again in the Big 12 championship to dash title hopes.
6. Ok, no national title but at least a BCS bowl game? Lol nope: Mizzou is shafted by the Orange Bowl in favor of Rival kansas, who finished 2nd in the Big 12 North behind Mizzou who had just beat them on a neutral site 2 weeks before. Mizzou settles for cotton bowl and a 12 win season.
7. Big 12 is crumbling and the Big 10 has extended a lifeboat for Mizzou to escape. Conference security at last? Lol nope: Mizzou is out-witted by Rival nebraska who steals the Big 10's invitation, leaving Ol' Mizzou with egg on their face and everyone laughing as we mope back to the Big 12.
8. Mike Anderson leaves Mizzou, but our new hire is a home run. Matt Painter to Mizzou? Lol nope: Matt Painter, after all but signing the contract and being reported as a "done-deal", gets a raise from Purdue and decides to stay. Mizzou settles for little-known and under accomplished Frank Haith.
9. Frank Haith proves everyone wrong and guides the team to 30-4 and a 2 seed in the tournament. Finally a Final Four for poor Mizzou? LOL NOPE: Norfolk State.
10. Mizzou finally gets something that goes their way and gets invited to the SEC. Bad luck finally behind us? Lol nope: Football team tanks in splendid fashion and misses a bowl game for the first time in 8 seasons. Basketball team fails to live up to expectations and only takes 1.5 weeks of conference play to match loss total from last season. Coach is caught in NCAA allegations which likely leads to him being fired. Mizzou crashes and burns in EPIC fashion while everyone else laughs and fans wonder when things will ever go Mizzou's way.

Mizzou has 2 national championships ever. Out of roughly 20 sports which have probably played a combined 2,000 seasons, Mizzou has won a national championship twice.

I say we drop to NAIA in hopes that we can compete with St. Louis college of pharmacy, Missouri Baptist University, etc.
D1 athletics clearly ain't our thing
