Hopefully HBC was good with him leaving for personal reasons, hope he is a good pick up for UFL. We will see.

I'd say hes better than a "solid coach". Coached up a lot of guys and set the blueprint for the tall, and quick Dlinemen we've become accustomed to.
Also started the Rabbit package thats been so effective.
He wasn't one of those coaches that tears up the recruiting trail though

Stupid thread IMO....Lawing was a solid DL coach and recruiter for us for quite a long time. He will be missed.
Although, to leave suddenly and surprisingly, when he's had the best DL in his career for the past 3 years and arguably the best defensive player with still one more year, and has been part of some of the best defenses USC has had in it's program history, during it's most successful period in history....
All to go to another program in Florida NOT to coach the DL but only a PART of the DL, for only $100K a year more (and we were more than capable of matching that raise) when he's lived in the Carolinas for the VAST majority of his life, all sounds a bit fishy to me. He has very little to NO recruiting history in the state of Florida...

Not a stupid thread. He only landed two highly players in Cliff Matthews and Robertson the past 4 or 5 years? Average recruiter at best who can be replaced.

I havent seen Gators act like that they beat someone in getting Lawler...but whatever..again...it is one poster. Maybe he wanted to come to UF because of the weather? It was in the 80s up until just a few days ago and in the 70s for quite a while...very warm winter for us in the Tampa Bay area.
We have Bryant who has become a very good recruiter and instant cred because of his NFL DL experience.

Brad has been a Gamecock for pretty much the better part of 17 yrs.
He's coached over 100 wins at SC.
Great guy, drank many a beer with him. You'll love him.
Not a great recruiter and anyone who says he is doesn't know their dick from shinola. But what Brad is, is a great Xs and Os fundamentals coach and he'll be perfect for Florida in that regard. Y'all don't have to recruit as hard as we do.
I've known Brad since he coached for Sparky. Even went up and visited with him when he was coaching for Saban at Mich State. I know exactly why he left and it was because he had to, not because he wanted to. He is salt of the earth but has a thing for (certain) women and he has a thing for marrying hard-assed mean bitchy women. It was now or never for him.
He'll do well at Florida.
We hit a home run with Deke Adams. Everyone should be happy. Anyone that is not good with this deal is a fawk-wad d-bag. We ALL came out of it smelling like a rose considering the circumstances.
BTW, I hark back to my thread two weeks ago about great unknown coaches. Brad Lawing was the subject and not a single swinging dick Gator fan knew who the frick he was ... pull the thread and I'll prove it.

It seems like the only people flustered and making a big deal out of this are USCe fans yet they're the ones telling UF fans to calm down.
