It's how you score points in team events

The Texas A&M Triangular was scored on a 7-5-4-3-2-1 scale with the top two individuals per team scoring points. In the relays, the points were based on a 7-5-4 scale and only one team per school could score.

That's not normal scoring for multi team meets.

Congrats on the win. It's not every day someone beats the current #1 team in the country.

A&M has won 3 national titles since the Hogs last title was vacated for cheating at fricking track. At track. Dude.

That's 6 national titles since Arky's last cheating title, 3 in men's and 3 in women's right?

I found this picture symbolic. A&M leading the way followed by LSU, then Arkansas way in the back.

Figured we'd at least wait until the conference and national meets to throat punch the other so-called "powers."

I guess technically it's a national meet, but with a different scoring system compared to any other meet. Arkansas will probably take conference this year again but nationals should be very interesting. Conference is always about depth and nationals are about top tier talent.

We haven't had a good showing at outdoor nationals in several years. Kind of ready for us to stop having "bad days" in the natty.

I mean, that's unfortunate. But at the same time, couldn't you have avoided the inauspicious result if your best kids had just finished faster than our best kids?

That's not what college track is about, just having "the best kid" in each event.

It's about being deep in each event. Up until 2000, Arkansas won national titles purely on being a deep distance running and field event team. It wasn't until after that, that Arkansas started also having the marquee sprinters in the nation.

Arkansas would have 5 guys qualify for finals, with 4-5 of this guys all scoring points. Even if you don't get 1st or 2nd, you still look at 6-10 possible points in said event.

It's fine to talk shite, but to talk shite about scoring that you know nothing about is entertaining.

Aren't y'all considered the least classy team in college football? It's all I ever heard about TAMU when I inquired about attending college there.

But you'd agree it doesn't suck to be the best at each event, yes? I mean, you can probably win some meets if your kids are better than everyone else's at each event, right?

You'd also agree that if your kids had ran faster than ours, you wouldn't have lost, much less lost my nearly thirty points, yes?

COLLEGE STATION - A feisty battle for points among three tradition-rich track and field schools entertained a crowd of 1,487 at the Texas A&M Triangular on Saturday afternoon inside Gilliam Indoor Stadium.

After winning four dual meets over the past four seasons, the Texas A&M men remained undefeated in adding a triangular title to that collection. The Aggies, No. 2 in Track & Field News dual meet rankings, reached a total of 128.5 points and were safely ahead of No. 1 Arkansas (99) and No. 8 LSU (82.5).

Looks like I know plenty. The scoring system still allowed you to win the meet, but you weren't good enough.
