That should be Mike Sherman's raise.

He has had Case Keenum and Johnny Manziel as his qbs? Needs to prove he can be good without a record breaking quarterback. That's about all I got.

What if he can't help but produce record-breaking QBs??

Case Keenum is just a guy. What's he doing now, selling insurance?

He didn't produce Keenum or Manziel.

He needs to give that to Manziel.

Why not?

We know he didn't recruit them, but we know that nothing that tells us he didn't help cultivate and home their skill sets.

Sumlin's always going to have a stud QB.

Let's not forget Auburn. Ask them how that raise worked out with Chiz.

I agree with the posters from other schools. We need to see how well he can do without a superstar QB, a top 3 offensive line, and a stacked receiving corps before we give him a raise. I wish he was more like Saban and Miles and be able to beat opponents without superior athletes giving him an advantage.

A&M is for some reason his dream job

That's easy to explain.

First, some coaches don't want to deal with overpaid, pampered pro athletes that can't be disciplined for anything. (Most likely why Saban won't ever return to the pros--"the process" would never work in the NFL)

Second, he's within decent driving distance of two top-10 metro areas (Houston and DFW) in a state well-known for producing top-level college football talent. Being the lone in-state school in what is essentially the NFL Development League helps greatly.

Except for that time he didn't.

Sumlin and Chiz are pretty similar. Think about this though, Aggies say JFF > Cam, but Cam won a national title while JFF's biggest achievement was defeating John L. Smith to get A&M a Super Bowl title 20 years in the making. AU 2010 was pretty similar to A&M 2012. Solid o-line / upperclassmen leadership, one standout player on D, great running back, etc.... Yet Chiz won it all, and Sumlin didn't.

Thus, Chiz > Sumlin?

Keenum was record breaking BECAUSE of Sumlin. His arm is nothing special.

As we now see considering he made the practice squad out of pity.

How Sherman managed to lose 6 games with virtually the same roster we had this year tells you all you need to know.
