I expected this would happen. The NFL just recycles coaches. He's a great QB coach, but an average play caller. I don't suspect he'll be much better than his tenure in Tampa Bay.

Former Bama QB, LOL? So the Shula years really were just a bad dream after all.

Saban has taken control of his brain and will now use him as a vessel for seeking revenge on Cam. The Process knows no boundaries.

What was the name of the formation Shula had where he had McClain at FB and Castille at RB?

Maybe he'll break it out again with Mike Tolbert.

Jumbo package??
I don't recall it having a unique name....of course I tended to drink heavily during those years so I could be wrong.

Shula calling plays and designing a spread-type offense with Cam at QB? Yea, that should end well.

Between "Uno Package", "Wild Tide", and "SmelleyCat", I could've swore that had a name too.

Like Stampede or Elephant something...

It was a tad more creative than "Darby up the middle for 2" package.

I wish him well and hope he has success. I've been a Shula fan since I saw him bring Alabama back for a win at UGA in 1985. Of course, like a lot of Bama fans, I'm happy he's a former Bama coach.

Not a reply to you but unless they have a decent year the HC will be gone. He was lucky to have kept his job this year. I do think with the teams that are doing a hurry up and some option read that the Panthers have the right QB to do this. I think San Fran has a great QB to run this and it appears that the NFL is evolving right in front of us. I am not referring to what Gus Bus does but modified. I think if Kelly thinks he can run his style with the Eagles he is going to be in for a rude awakening when his QB's get knocked out. One has to chose their spots when to run.

Shula sure did love the play action pass to the fullback....that would get about...3 1/2 yards.

Another thing is the only time Bama would be in shotgun was on 3rd and long.

God he was a terrible play caller. Hard to believe he's getting another chance.

Good for him. He was bad but the man got us through a rough patch of time. Cheering for him.
