If you were the HC would you use this as a recruiting tool? Its a hot button topic on message boards I've noticed and people get pissed if you speak ill of the place. Personally I would drop it from the rotation. I would take them to places on Dickson if I was running the show. What would you do?

Some place on Dickson that was crawling with sorority tail would probably appeal more to 17-18 year old boys. So I would not use the catfish hole.

The hushpuppies are good enough to be their own meal though

My thoughts as well. Take them down on Dickson and show them a good time. I understand Catfish Hole is a Fayetteville tradition but its out in the middle of nowhere when it comes to nightlife and it's jam packed with middle aged folks. Not exactly what you want to compete against when they are coming from a night out in Oxford or Auburn where they've been flocked by sorority girls all night long.

Exactly. Food is food. These kids can get good food at home. We're not going to win recruiting battles on the strength of our resident hushpuppy experts. But if we can give them a good, on campus (or near it) experience that will more closely resemble actual college life (fun), we have a shot. I never ate at catfish hole when i was in school. I much preferred somewhere downtown, on dickson, or on college.

I like the Catfish Hole but it really shouldn't be the go-to place for recruiting dinners. Sure, there is a good following of fans there and that can be impressive for recruits, but the fans will show up anywhere if the time and place of the dinner is known. Where on Dickson would you all take them if you got to choose? Personally, I'm not sure.

I'd take them to Bottoms Up if you want to take them to a run down place that smells of stale fish...

never been to the place but IMO taking recruits to the catfish hole rings of backwoods arkysaw. if i was running the show, would take them somewhere else a little more cool.

If you want toned down so they don't feel under dressed, which is a big arguement for the CH supporters, then just take them to Does. At least that way you are physically on Dickson and then they can go do whatever afterwards.

I wouldn't take them there, no matter how much Pat kissed our asses. Its pretty tasty, but to make a big spectacle of it as if its THE place in Fayetteville is downright embarrassing.

Yeah, Doe's would be a good choice. What football player wouldn't like having a big 'ole steak?

Exactly. Big portions, good food and you can see all of the nightlife even if your parents are on the trip and wont let you go out afterwards.

Absolutely! Parading them down Dickson street, they would get cheers as they walked down the street, they would feel like kings. They would soak up the atmosphere. I like the catfish hole and the tradition, but it is very meh. It wouldn't be hard at all either to set something up to make it look like an impromptu crowd gathered on Dickson to applaud the recruits. I spend many a nights at the front round table at Does BSing with the old man. He is a helluva guy and a huge AR booster/supporter. They would be first on my list of places.
