The CW sucks and nothing written on it should be taken seriously, whether its good or bad.

The article is calling out students for leaving en masse before the game is over. Is that not happening? I honestly don't know as I only make it to one game a year, but I thought there was concern about this recently.

It's happening.

Students will continue to leave en masse until the University requires them to scan their cards upon leaving. Once that is done, then they can be penalized for leaving before a certain point.
But the CW is possibly the absolute worst source for objective news in the state. It is filled with terrible writing and unashamed bias, and no one should take it seriously. Especially not an opinion piece.

They need to monitor how many people sit downstairs and then cut it off when it's full. That would solve some of it. Everyone wants to be downstairs.

This was a problem when I was an undergrad and grad student. But it is worse now. The students are spoiled with a winning program. A cure for this issue would be eliminating upper deck seating and releasing those tickets to the general public. The next step would be eliminating block seating.

In other words, it hasn't changed one bit since I graduated in 2006.

The CW may suck but I can't really disagree with anything in that opinion piece. I'm sure complacency is a major cause, but I wonder if the increase in out of state enrollment is a factor as well. I don't know what the solution is because it's hard to force someone who doesn't care to care.

I graduated in 2010 and sat with my fraternity in the frat section behind the South End Zone for every game... there were literally 3 times the amount of people sitting in that section than there really should have been. It was wayy over crowded. For most games, my girlfriend and I had to stand on the bleachers facing sideways to watch the game so everyone could squeeze in. The Athletic Department really needs to do something (if they havent already) to control the amount of students that sit in the lower student sections including fraternity section.

That's coming. It was discussed last year but tabled.

Y'all do know this was an opinion that was sent in right? This isn't a featured columnist. Has no affiliation with CW. I found it because Tuscaloosa News retweeted it early this morning.

The upper deck that is apart of that is F/S. Don't take my seats!
In all seriousness, I know a few higher ups. Next time I see them I'll ask if this will be assessed before next year. Because in 2010 those seats had a lot of AU fans in them on that shitty day and I was not happy. Told that person about it. Next thing i know F/S were told that they have to either buy tickets or GTFO. And if you buy tickets and are caught selling them you could be on grounds for termination.
Not saying I had anything to with that but I'll try to get some information from them.
