The Process and Why Nick Saban will never succeed in the NFL

:inb4bamasessed: tl;dr
First, let me get this out of the way; Nick Saban is probably the greatest college football coach ever! To succeed in the way he has in an era with the amount of parity, and the number of superior athletes that exists today, is unparalleled.
His current coaching success is the result of the perfect storm. He is coaching at a University with deep pockets, he recruits a large number of players from outside Alabama (who are playing for him and the program, not for home state pride), and he has the perfect coaching philosophy.
His Process is perfect for college kids. But it is not an easy philosophy to instill. It takes a special kind of person, and Saban is that guy. Most people focus on GOALS. I'm gonna get a new car next year, I'm gonna work hard to get a raise/promotion, etc. Getting young men to avoid the goal mentality, and focus on the details of the work is very difficult. But Saban is the master.
Now think about the NFL. Men, with contracts that are very GOAL driven. Incentives based on results. Manipulating or controlling things in this environment is almost impossible. Saban has perfected HIS system, and without it he is an ordinary coach. He has realized, in his short stint in the NFL, that, in that environment, he would have very limited success.
Therefore, he will never coach in the NFL again!

Dude, I couldn't care less if he coaches at Bama for the next 100 years. I was just putting out a thought on why he wouldn't coach in the NFL.
I'm happy for you Bama guys. Football is probably the only good thing you have in your life.

Perhaps Nick Saban gave up on being the next Barry Switzer or Jimmy Johnson.
It's possible that he just wants to be Nick Saban, the best damn college football coach of his era.
He sounds like he is okay with that.

Saban stays in college football for two reasons: 1- He knows he has complete control and can win consistently with his process and 2- He wants to instill something in the young men he coaches that will last far beyond anything they accomplish on the field so they will have a greater chance at success in life. This is much easier to do when you're holding someone's scholarship and keys to their future than trying to do this with some young thug who's just signed a mega-million dollar contract.
