I know in year's past CNS Saban has always had at least a 6'2 safety. With Lester and Barron noth were 6'2 or above. With the loss of Lester , LC could take his spot but he is 6'0 , What about Eddie Williams? Fits the mold at 6'3 210. Just a qustion. I would like to Eddie and LC back there.

I don't see EW beating LC out.

Height is overrated, the 2nd best Safety under Saban was 5-11.

And IMO, I doubt we see Williams on anything but STs anytime soon. Great athlete, but not much else right now.

If CNS was opposed to Safeties under 6'2 then he wouldn't recruit Safeties under 6'2. HCD is 6'1 and he's plenty good.

EW is going to be boom or bust. Top notch athlete, but kind of a shite head. If he can ever channel all of his focus towards football, he'll end up a first rounder

I thought he'd be a dominant WR, but that didn't pan out. We're stacked at WR and Safety right now, so I don't know what he can do. He RS'd this year didn't he? Down the road he may see some PT, but I don't know for sure.

For those who say EW will be a WR - he'd better be pretty damned good because we have too many of them as it is.

what has he done?

where are you hearing this from?

... not questioning your info, but I haven't heard anything on him, just curious what happened. He was one of my favorites for that class.

I think we should move Vinnie back to safety with Haha and let LC play the star and move Geno to corner.

Geno to Safety? I do recall him playing Safety some in high school but if he has the hips to play corner it would be a waste to put him at Safety especially with all the other Safeties we have on the roster.

My bad bro, I mean him moving to corner instead of star. My fault.

When youre dealing with 2 elite athletes at the Safety, the difference in height between 6'2 and 6'0 equates to virtually no difference at all in production. A true 6'0 safety with elite talent and speed is more than adequate for the Safety position.

As a side note, I think Landon Collins is more around the true 6'0 mark than Vinnie. Vinnie seems shorter than that to me but it has virtually nothing to do with his said lack of production in coverage.

While size is important, it is not as huge of a factor as it is in the NFL in comparison to college. If a player has better fundamentals and is a more disciplined player they will excel better at the position.

Is he in the BJ Scott mold?

I don't want to say that right now in his freshman year, a lot depends on finding stability at a position. If he comes out in spring as a WR, then returns to DB in the fall, it could be a problem.

He just needs to settle into a position and learn, sort of like Derrick Henry. Both are amazing athletic talents, but need to be heavily molded into their positions. They used their talents to garner great success at the high school level, bur need to learn the aspects of the positions they are expected to play.

I'd rather Vinnie just not be on the field unless it is gonna be to blitz.

I know it isn't about the NFL, but if LC plays Star for all of his career he won't have any good tape as a Safety for the NFL. He'd be a good Star, but he and HaHa at Safety just isn't fair for opposing offenses. It's about getting the best guys out there, and to me, Deion/Fulton at CB, Geno at Star, HaHa/LC at Safety, and Jarrick at Money will be our best bet coverage wise.
